Wiki: Jovanović made his debut with FK Vojvodina during the 1999–2000 season. He spent most of his early career at Shakhtar Donetsk and Lokomotiv Moscow, before arriving at Standard Liège in 2006. At Standard Liège Jovanovic quickly became a fan favourite scoring 14 goals in his first season and earning the nickname "the snake" for his fast movement. [1]. Jovanovic was hugely successful in Belgium and on 13th January, 2010, was named as the Jupiler League's Player of the Year. [2]
He is set to move to Liverpool at the start of the 2010/11 season.

The Mirror, that bastion of football knowledge, are pretty certain we've signed him too. They've even put together a couple of video's showing just a small selection of his hat tricks:
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Milan Jovanovic happy to ignore European elite for life at Liverpool
We ain't European Elite anymore, apparently
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...Liverpool.htmlThe Serbia international, now with Standard Liege, who has signed a pre-contract at Anfield and will be confirmed as a Liverpool player on June 1, said:
"They might have had a poor season, but Liverpool are still Liverpool.
"I really see this as the place where I want to be.
The thought of playing at Anfield is an incredible inspiration for me."
Jovanovic will join Jonjo Shelvey, a £1.75 million capture from Charlton, and Rangers defender Danny Wilson, who is expected to complete his £2 million move in the coming days, as Benítez begins to rebuild his squad

That's him right there saying that we are European Elite
as for the author of the article, **** him
maybe "the European Elite" is just a metaphor for next year's Champions League.

To be fair for years the 'European Elite' has been defined as those in the CL with a chance of winning it. We clearly aren't in that group any more.
As Jovanovich states that doesn't mean we are not a major draw."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Bollocks. It's a cheap dig by the journo without a doubt.Originally posted by dww View PostTo be fair for years the 'European Elite' has been defined as those in the CL with a chance of winning it. We clearly aren't in that group any more.

Oh come on, how many times have I heard Liverpool fans talk down to other teams about not having to play on Thursdays in the past? I've heard it many times and I think we just have to get over it. We don't have the financial power at the minute to escape the fact that without CL football we are clearly, temporarily, not classed in the elite group of clubs around Europe. It's pretty much what everyone means by European elite, if people are going to be thin skinned about this, dig or not it is going to fell like a very long summer and an even longer season coming up."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I am a little thin skinned
The title was still another cheap and easy dig at us IMO
I still class us amongst Europe's elite personally, and no definition of such an arbitrary term can be cast in stone.
Most of the journalists are absolutely loving our recent demise. I don't ever read the papers anymore luckily or I would lose my rag with them winding us up every single day, which they undoubtedly are.
