I think he will come good but I am not sure if he is suited to the LM role. He may be more effective if we played a 4-3-3 with him and Joe Cole either side of Torres.

For me he's a square peg in a round hole, not necessarily an issue of ability (we can judge that more long term). Everytime I see him he comes inside, we desperately need a winger, someone who will stay out wide, because we are just too narrow. All our play comes through the middle. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That's just it. He likes attacking through the middle but he cannot link nor feed Torres as he is overtaken by the defense too quickly.Originally posted by Fernandinho View PostI can't quite understand his positioning. Obviously he spends a lot of time in the centre of the field. Do you think its down to his natural tendency to be playing through the middle, the lack of ability from Poulsen/Lucas or because he is simply trying to link up our attack. It could also be an odd strategical plan because Torres seems to regularly find himself wide left when Jova comes midfield or is that simply Torres covering Jova....
Passing is what disappoints me the most as he needs time to see who he'll be passing to and when he does eventually decides to pass it is already too late.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

We seriously lack pace to be effective in a 4-4-1-1 and with a 4-3-3 IMO we have awful full backs who can't defend and we lack a world class DM based on the current crop of players Roy seems to be using. However if he used Agger, Aurelio and Babel and Kelly at RB and Johnson at RW it would be a totally different propositionOriginally posted by Tee View PostI think he will come good but I am not sure if he is suited to the LM role. Jovanovic looks woeful, can't beat a man, doesn't get down the line, cut inside every time (reminds me of Riera in that way), zero creativity, zero productivity, actually is he Riera in disguise. Maybe LM is not the position to play this guy.
Jovo done two nice turns inside yesterday apart form that he was dreadful just as he was in last few games also. Said as much when Rafa originally went after him that he was a duffer, was terrible in world cup too.
This guy is definitely not the answer to our problems and IMO will be a squad player at best. We have serious problems in wide areas especially LM, when the **** are we actually gonna get this position sorted?

He was a free transfer and given our situation he was worth a go. I'm not closing the door on him coming good as I think he has more to offer. He seems to be feeling the pressure atm. I think he needs a goal.
All that said, he is never going to be the long term answer we all hoped for. In fact, I don't think he is better than Riera. In fact, he is probably worse. If this opinion doesn't change then we've dropped a real clanger, especially since Babel is being considered for the forward role and not LW.
The only player I see pushing him is Pacheco, and then when everyone is fit and available maybe Joe Cole.Forwards.......

the chalkboard does show him all over the shop, but i can't seem to get it embedded.
anyways, here:
Liverpool suffered from a clear lack of creativity in their goalless draw at Birmingham, recording only three shots on target. Part of the problem was Milan Jovanovic's style of play – the majority of the time he played short passes into the congested centre of the pitch. When he did attempt crosses they were all unsuccessful, as was the one ambitious pass he played, an overhit ball down the left intended for Paul Konchesky.dave of mutilation

He has no confidence out there. Almost feels like "I don't belong here" attitude is taking over him.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostHe was a free transfer and given our situation he was worth a go. He is in panic state everytime he gets the ball. No idea what to do with it except trying to do some ****ty dribbling in the middle, which ultimately ends in losing the possession.
He needs to calm down ffs and get rid of the ball faster and start doing more one-touch forward passing, that is, if he gets another chance to start..Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Seeing him "play" on Tuesday, yeaterdays performance seems world class, he was awful for Serbia.
However i can see some improvements in his game, especially the link-up play between him and Konchesky was very good, and when they'll play a few more games together they might form a decent partnership.
We need someone to challenge him though, but then again there are more than one problem areas in the team which need to be addressed.Jürgen Klopp
