Mascherano gets four-match ban

Liverpool have confirmed Javier Mascherano will serve a four-match ban after his sending off at Fratton Park during the Reds' 2-0 defeat
Mascherano will miss the forthcoming fixtures against Wolves, Aston Villa, the FA Cup third round tie at Reading and the league clash with Tottenham on January 10.
However, his participation in at least some of those games would have been in doubt anyway as he had to be helped off the field having been shown the red card and is believed to have sustained medial knee ligament damage.

It's unjust that Mascherano should get a four match ban for not making contact - Scott Parker nearly sliced Drogba's legs off earlier and didn't even get booked! There's far too much inconsistency, Mascherano should have received a yellow card yesterday - the sending off did change the game.

it was by no means a red card, infact i think brown's challenge on lucas was far worse, but regardless of the red card, and the ref being ****, we should be able to beat pompey!

I can only see this silver lining too. Lucas' attempts at blackmail have continued to make him undroppable, so at least now he can show us what he really is able to do for us (i.e. play the Masch role). That means push Gerrard back or play Aquaman. I might actually start looking forward to watching us play again!
