This is a funny liverpool podcast that I subscribe to and their description of him is the best I've ever heard - "ballast"

I love Kuyt but I do think that at the minute the way we are playing isn't getting the best out of him and that his workrate is often wasted when we play deep. He never hides and always works but that doesn't always help the team as much as it could. I'd have been tempted to play him more off the main striker when we are struggling which to my mind would help both him and the team (I can see the argument that moving Gerrard is a big minus though - if Stevie was fit and on form the argument would certainly be much less strong).

I don't get why some people feel the need to denigrate Kuyt. It almost seems personal with some. I can see why people feel let down by the likes of Babel who don't always seem to try as hard as they could and certainly don't make the most of their talent but as Chrono says you couldn't tar Dirk with either of those brushes.

I think Kuyt might benefit a lot from Aquilani coming into the team.
