i still think a lot of the players would benefit from going to the champioship for a season or at least half a season to bluckle them up a bit and get them ready for the physical side of the english game.

players like plessis come to mind.

but to be fair to rafa he has been sending players out on loan more often lately so that is a step forward imo.
it depends - it can go the other way too - say if we had sent insua to the championship and he just didn't settle, didn't fit, struggled in matches, wasn't developed how we wanted and came back a worse player!

could still send him out on loan to say spain or train him at the club to give him the confidence back. you're right as is dww it should be down to individual cases of who to send out on loan.

but players of that age need to be playing, and playing regulary. they have ups and downs through the season due to their age and inexperience, but all in all i think any competitive game they play is only good for them.

there i think lies the problem why rafa has been reluctant to loan player out in previous seasons, he has his own training regime and doesn't trust other manager to "develop" and train the player in a way he sees fit.

but like i said he's been sending player out on loan more often lately and i think they will return better players

              It's not my real opinion.

Personally i think that most players will not make it, whether they go on loan or not. Players can look awesome at 15/16 and then just stop developing (Adu, Samba) or they may blossom later...just keep buying them, crossing our fingers and then getting rid of the ones that don't make the grade.

I think Rafa has been a lot more keen on loans than previous managers.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I always thought San Jose was decent and better than Ayala at bringing the ball out from defence, I'm pretty sure he played half a season in midfield for the reserves to improve his technical ability
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

A year or two on loan is a standard part of my youth player development programme in Football Manager and therefore clearly is essential in real life too.

Especially defenders, you get the odd speed merchant kid breaking through at an early age up front but defenders take time to mature. Carragher and Pique are 2 obvious examples.

while we are talking about the reserves and all... whats the deal with Plessis now... he is 22 years old now and doesnt even seem to be getting a sniff at the first team like Pacheco.. is he just filling space for the reserves or do they generally think he is good enogh?

Personally he isn't adventerous enough with his passing but he is the prime example of not being good enough for the 1st team but stagnating in the reserves, he needs a season on loan somewhere to play before we'll have any idea, ideally back in France so if we decide to sell him on then we'll get a better price
