Thanjk you.

I remember having an argument with a few on here earlier on in the season, about lucas being the scapegoat.
I have backed him all the way, and my point was, he had been drafted in to do a job that only one man could do.. and that job was xabi alonso's.
I still hear it today when i go the game. Aurelio gave the ball away against wolves, and shouts of "For F*cks sake Lucas" came from the stands. No whether this is a case of mistaken identity i don't know. But all i know is, it still happens, and on less of a scale.
With or without the backing of fans this season, he has proved that he has a great mentality.. because i know that walking onto a pitch knowing that most of the fans didn't want you there would put me off for sure.
One of our most consistent good performers this season, if you ask me to pick out a bad game that hes had this season, the only one that springs to mind is Blackburn away, where none of the players arrived.
I just hope that he keeps on progressing.
The proof is in the pudding mate, he is ranked a soilid 8th in the player of the season votes so far and for a player that doesn't score goals(yet) and cant put a foot right with some fans I find that pretty astonishing.

You have got to admire the lad.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
...lethargic, never really looks to get involved in the game...
Are you joking? What has struck me about Liverpool when they are playing really badly is that Lucas has been the only one really looking for the ball. Hopefully with Aquilani in the side things will be fifferent but for a lot of this season he has had to carry the whole of the offensive part of the team on his shoulders, and that is a huge burden for someone so young/inexperienced. The only other Premier League team relying on some one so young is Arsenal, and Fabregas is an exceptional player (albeit a horrible person!!).
We have to stop blaming Lucas for the fact that all season our the movement of our offensive players has been poor/non-existant. I think even Fabregas would pass sideways and backwards if he could see what Lucas sees everytime he looks to play the ball forward.

He then looks up and finds absolutely zero movement around him. continued to look for the vall.

Yeah, but Degen is 9th.
Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom- 2 years1year 0.5 years
He's a poor man's Mascherano but that doesn't make him a bad player, just one that shouldn't be played alongside Mascherano.
He's been absolutely streets ahead of Mascherano this season and certainly one of our best players, so I assume your opinion is based on Mascherano's past performances
Not the best tackler, lethargic, never really looks to get involved in the game, and passes either square or backwards.
Not enough quality about him to make it at Liverpool and the sooner Rafa corrects that the better for the team.
He made more passes than anyone else at Villa in the week (only 5 unsuccessful passes out of 59) and I believe his 14 tackles were more than any other player made. So if that makes him very average and someone who "...never looks to get involved in the game..." I wonder what he has to do to win over the whingers - make 100 passes and 30 tackles?

Fair play mate, your wasting your breath on some of these lads but those stats are very interesting.
Funny thing is I guarentee you a lot of the guys that dont rate Lucas rate Babel which is rather worrying.

And if you compare the passing of Lucas and Xabi (the Guardian chalkboard) in the corresponding fixture from last season I think you'll find some similiarities in the way they distribute the ball, not saying they are equally good but I thought it was interesting.
* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Good stuff, it confirms what a lot of us have been saying particularly over the last few months.
Unless Mascherano wants to stay Rafa should flog him off asap.
Hes a brilliant defensive midfielder but he is very inconsistant and is his all round game good enough at the very highest level, i'm not so sure.
