They are different types of players. Alot of the stick Lucas is getting is because he isn't Alonso, and that's unfair

I played amateur football for years in central midfield believe it or not, so I tend to look at players who play in that position, Lucas can neither pass nor tackle, his timing when he tackles is absolutely dreadful, of course,he might look good asgainst lower league/lesser opposition but he is one of the reasons why we are doing so badly as centre midfield is one of the key areas of the team, if anyone can name me 10 worse central midfielders who have played as many games as Lucas I'll get the beers in, he's not on his own in this present team by the way, there are 4 or 5 other players who shouldn't get near the first 11.

Is Lucas really worse than Diao or Ferri?

Good question, but the fact is Lucas has played more games than Diao and is constantly being selected, with Diao I think GH realised his mistake after a few games and Ferri never actually kicked a ball for Liverpool if I remember correctly
