Yeah but have you seen UTDs team?
Tomasz Kuszczak
Gary Neville
Wes Brown
Jonathan Evans
Fabio Da Silva
Darron Gibson
Anderson
Dimitar Berbatov
Wayne Rooney
Gabriel Obertan
Danny Welbeck
Apart from Brown, Berbatov, Rooney, Anderson, and you can include that cunt Neville in if you like but I dont, the rest of the team are second choice keeper and younger players. Not like our team last night of almost complete full strength, and these guys are still playing better then us. I think our team compared to this team costs like 5 times more.

Reina - £8m
Darby - £0
Carragher - £0
Skrtel - £6.5m
Insua - approx £1.5m?
Kuyt - £10m
Gerrard - £0
Lucas - £5m
Aurelio - £0
Ngog - £1.5m
Torres - £20m
Total - £52.5m approx
COmpare that to:
Anderson - £18m
Dimitar Berbatov - £30m
Wayne Rooney - £25m
Total - £63m approx
so those three players alone cost more than our starting line up

Unfortunately Gerrard has been part of that "utter ****e" all season. He was invisible yesterday, despite his goalOriginally posted by el matador View Postthat young lad karacan was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. We should be looking at players who fancy battles not our bunch of bottlers.
As for lucas and gerrard - two players of undisputed quality. If you were surrounded by utter ****e as these two have been for the most of this season how motivated would you be.
We are a ****ing 2 man team. (plus reina which technically makes it 3)

It is a problem but I think that the nature of it is largely that we aren't getting the ball out into the right areas quickly enough and people don't have the confidence to just keep ball when we do.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostWatching that game yesterday I was struck once again by just how predictable and unimaginative our attacking play is. We have no variation and absolutely no spark unless Torres or Gerrard does something spectacular. With one only half fit and the other off form that means we're left with basically no plan at all. Nobody getting in the box, nobody offering inspired movement, no pace, and nobody with any creativity whatsoever. Its quite embarrassing really.
We have had this problem before under Rafa and always in the past when the team comes together the problems have gone without changing personnel.
At the minute I think there are too major problems (at least since Mascherano went out of the team) firstly without a true wide player like Riera we play too tight and it means whoever is passing out from deep has to either look short or aim for some eye of the needle ball. This is compounded by Gerrard's seeming lack of the mobility he had in the past - he rarely runs the channels which means that often only Torres does - leaving us with no one in the middle.
Lack of a consistent defense (a problem that appears slowly to be changing - although obviously right back is going to be a real issue in the coming weeks). Insua looks so much better with Agger beside him, the unit in general looks better and we move the ball into midfield better. Partly it is just the quality of Agger but the relationship between players in defense should not be discounted.
I don't see Pacheco being the answer, or on the evidence of this season, Benayoun is either. They could help if we were playing higher up the pitch but not breaking teams down but as it is I think they aren't what will spark a change. That said he should always be on the bench for me. I can see the argument that we might have little to lose as a team but his individual development could be put back if he has a bad time and gets a lot of criticism (which seems the fate of all our young players at the minute).Originally posted by MrMichael View PostDrawing with a championship team in a hard fought, typically FA cup game I can live with, these things do happen. But that performance was symptomatic of problems we've been seeing for months now, and currently we just don't seem to have the personnel to fix it.
As someone said above, I'd leave the criticism of the younger players; Insua had a torrid time in the first half but kept at it and got absolutely no support from Aurelio, who was awful I thought. Insua's not the quickest in the world, hopefully with experience he'll learn to read the game better and better so that will one day be much less of a problem than it is now. Darby looked predictably shakey but grew into the game, I don't know if he'll make it but he did ok considering. And Ngog, personally I thought he showed some really nice touches in the first half just got crowded out most of the time due to a serious lack of people running beyond him. I think he did alright.
The much maligned Lucas was possibly our best player, not that that's such a great accolade. I doubt anyone playing in that role in that game could have looked much better, his tackling was good and his passing decent, when he ever had anyone to pass to that is.
The rest were pants. We're crying out for a player or two with some spark, some invention, some unpredictability, so much so that in the absence of anyone else in the entire squad (apart from Benny, who can't just carry a team) I'd strongly be considering starting Pacheco in some upcoming games; he may be 5 foot nothing and several years from really being ready, but I don't really see what we've got to lose given the insipid football our senior players are producing at the moment.
I'd quite like to see El Zhar given more chances. Not that I think he is a great player but he does seem capable of keeping wide and running directly at teams. Another option might be Babel on the right but he is a moron which is a problem."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

but nowhere near 5 x as much!!! take Gerrard/Torres/Rooney and Berbatov out the respective teams and you have **** all value on both sides!!Originally posted by vlahka View PostI didnt say we PAID more. I said our team on paper COSTS more. Unless you think Gerrard etc are worth 0. Torres was also not 20mill. We exchanged the awesome Luis Garcia in the deal._____________________________________

You're clearly one of those obsessive anti-Lucas whingers. He was easily our best player yesterday and has certainly been one of our best 2 or 3 all season, way ahead of Gerrard and Mascherano in midfield. Please grow upOriginally posted by el matador View Posthe did well when you compare it to the lucas scale of relativity. But with lucas it is all relative to the **** that he has dished out before.
To be fair to him you cant judge him by any other standard. So yes he did well and was probably our best player.

LOL. Whatever happen to the adage good teams play badly but still managed to win??!!Originally posted by Bender View PostRubbish We couldn't beat a championship team at the bottom of their league and who have conceded 11 goals in their last 5 games ...we put out a near full strentgh team and struggle not to loose the game.......
Manure was just a good example. Played better than Leeds but lost 1-0. I know which I rather have

Yes but they brought on Valencia and Owen in the second half and still couldn't hit a cow's arse with a handful of rice. And let's not forget that Ferguson said that last season he had his best ever squad (only Ronaldo's gone from that squad). They were predictable, totally lacked invention and creativity and were reduced to long hopeless hoofs upfield for the last 25 minutes. And let's also not forget that Leeds are playing in a division even lower than Reading too. Apparently it was a disaster to draw with Reading according to the media. It's a pound to a penny that Man U getting outplayed by a (old) Third Division club at home won't be seen as a worse result in the fawning media tomorrow.
