He'd be more consistent and would stay fit more.

But without his goal we'd be out.

Riera isn't a sicknote though mate - he did play in most of our matches last season. I don't have the stats to hand but I would imagine Riera was in the top four or five player who appeared for us.

riera was the player who played the most minutes against the best opposition last year.

i don't have the numbers, but this was backed up pretty well when it was presented as fact, so i'm thinking it's probably true.

                excepting pepe, i'm guessing.

For sure his free-kick taking is always immense and im glad he scored, he never meant it but he put it in the area. But his general play was ****e, he barely got involved

i think it was based on final league position. there were numbers to back it up.

i kind of doubt that our woeful form is down to him, but it sure couldn't hurt to have him in the team.

tis true about that stat and i think we really miss riera, he is a steady eddie and when fit for a few games on the bounce rarely has a bad game.

We desperately need him at the moment as he is an outlet, something we dont have at present.

Aurelio is truly an enigma, he is been responsible for some of the worse games played by a liverpool player in recent times but then is capable of ome great performances to.

For me the thing with Aurelio is and has always been that he needs a run in the team (preferably in the same position) and then he will perform very well - such as parts of last season. Sadly his injury record prevents this being a regular occurrence and the current strategy of trying to manage his fitness isn't getting him to the right level of performance.

I think the option of natural width, provided by Riera last season, was hugely useful to us. It was one of those things that had a substantial knock on effect for other players and I think if we could use it again we would get more from Aquilani and Kuyt for sure and possibly also from Gerrard.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
