Would anyone really blame Fernando Torres...

...if he handed in a transfer request in the summer ?

    I wouldn't.

He came to Liverpool three seasons ago thinking he was joining a team and a club on the rise. If not in terms of his individual performances, he must be gutted with the way things have gone for the club as a whole.

He's one of, if not the, best striker in Europe and he's in the best years of his life. He deserves to be playing for a side winning league titles and trophies on a regular basis.

I would be devatasated and upset, but the lad wanted to leave I wouldn't begrudge him the chance to play for Milan or Barcelona or the like for the next two or three years of his career.

After a good world cup we could genuinely recieve around 50 million for Fernando.

    Sad, but true.

Yes if he handed in a request, not really if we sold him. That said I would be disappointed that after just 1 season on the slide he buggered off, I think they all should stay and put this right, or at least try, then after next season finishing 6-7th they all would be well within their rights to think about leaving. That is if the ownership/financial situation hadnt changed.

It's one bad season, in which we still have a decent chance of getting champions league football, up to this point we have been moving in the right direction.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

50 million would only get you one of his legs.

I think he sees past the sky sports induced hysteria of one bad season being the end of the world as we know it.This time last season it was Arsenal facing oblivion. He's also only 24,I don't think he'd be panicking about his lack of silverware opportunities just yet.

In 3 years time if we're still nowhere I woudn't begrudge him

He's a massive fan who took a pay cut to join us.

You really think he'd hand ina transfer request after 1 bad season?

            pointless hysteria.

                'One bad season' ?!

The previous two weren't exactly a roaring success were they ? We didn't lift anything.

Anyone who pussies out now is a cunt. Torres/Gerrard included.

Yeah I have to agree that, the players hold a lot of responsibility for where the club is now and jumping ship at the end of the season would piss me

wouldn't blame ste for leaving if he did. he's gettin g on and the chance to win the league is getting further away. however, he did say it wouldn't mean anything to him to win it with another team rather than with us so doubt he'll ever leave.

as for torres, if we dont qualify for CL this year and then as expected in that situation fail to qualify again the next year, i would let him go and would hold no grudge.

I'd be fuming if he ****ed off after 1 bad season. Luckily he wont though.

Unless he goes to Inter Milan he cant really be guaranteed trophies anywhere else either.

wouldn't blame him, Gerrard, Mashcarno, Reina or Agger at all, they deserve better.
If the Americans know anything about business, never mind football, they must pump some money into this team or the value of their franchise will dwindle to a fraction of what it was when they took over.
