    Tottenham match postponed

Darby to start at right back do we think? I'd definitely want to see us use as settled a back four as possible - ideally Insua left back and Agger and Carragher kept in the middle.

I guess the problem is that they are likely to use Lennon to target whichever fullback and it's not like Kuyt or Aurelio have the pace to cover. So I think we should look to be as attacking as possible.

all i can say is good thing lennon is injured as he would have made mincemeat of Insua .....having said that think spurs will win 2-1 ....

Is he - that is good news. Not sure he would have made mincemeat of Insua but he is certainly one of their major threats and his pace would have been a real problem.

got to keep carragher and agger together

I also hope Aquiliani is getting used to the premiership as I fear Palacios will be all over him.

well after watching insua against Reading i think ......then he woud have had an even worse time against Lennon who is A speed demon.....but still think spurs will win purley because we still have not shown any real upturn in form

i wouldnt of fancied Insua's chance of containing him it is great news though, although not sure how far Bentley is up the pecking order but if he plays watch him score a wonder goal!!!

Lennon out is a major plus everything goes though him and if they dont have that outlet its a major bonus

I have quite a good feeling about this one actually. I think there were really good signs in the Villa game - the conditions were terrible yet we still played some decent passing football at times and looked like we had started to gel a decent defensive unit. If in a home game with (hopefully) more clement weather conditions Aquilani can provide a more consistent creative influence then I think we will win.

I think Agger + Insua has started to look a decent combination. He is very fast but he has that advantage against all teams and I have seen him contained this season.

I'm with red g that a lot goes through him and even when it doesn't (a bit like Riera for us last year) his presence on the wing gives the rest of the team more space to work in and drags opposition defenders wide.

Aurelio at left back imo, he has the positional play to counter Lennon, and Agger at CB to cover Aurelio.

Spurs usually play with a 442 don't they? i thin Rafa will go for the standard 4231 with Aquilani in the middle and Gerrard up top.

I'd like to see Benny from the start, as i think currently he's our most capable player.

is Kelly fit, i thought i saw on physioroom.com that he's supposed to be back in early Jan? if not i'd like to see Darby there, but it's probably gonna be Carra at Rb and Škrtel at Cb

I think we are improving and will start to put clean sheets together if we can keep Carragher and Agger in the middle and have a consistent left back (I'd be happy with either Insua or Aurelio myself but the former is in possession and I'd keep him there).

if we can get a win against spurs then yes we are showing improovment.....but this will be a key test of our defence more than anything .....for me spurs are not that good in defence either ....but we lack creativity and attcaking guile at times if benny is not playing.....i would have liked pancheo to have played in the reading game and maybe given a go against spurs

I still think the problems mostly lie in the fact that we allow the ball to remain too deep for too long and don't have enough outlets. I'm not sure that Pacheco is the answer - I'd like to see some natural width but neither Riera nor El Zhar seem ready to play (for differing reasons). I'm not at all sure what I would do on the flanks - Benayoun and Babel are capable of more from the bench so I would probably start Kuyt. I'd try not to play Aurelio in combination with Kuyt as I fear that sort of formation, again, keeps us deep and asks our fullbacks to press on for width as well.
