this is not funny at all.

the amount of really talented players that our academy has failed is untrue. There are loads of world beaters at 16 but at 18 they're nowhere near good enough.

Some of its down to the players mentality and attitude but if the set up was professional enough, the players with egos would still knuckle down.

hopefully, rodolpho and pep have sorted that out and the talented lads can make the transition from the academy to the first team set up.

The academy hasn't failed Pepper. I saw him play loads of times and he was obviously never going to make it.

The great majority of good 16-year olds don't make it. It's a fact of footballing life and nothing to do with Liverpool's academy

How do some of these 16 year olds go in relation to Suso?

From what I've seen of Suso he's light years ahead of the likes of Adam Pepper. He looks the type to make real progress, whereas Pepper looked fairly limited and just didn't have that spark about him that top players do at any age

There are quite a few of our younger players who look very good so far, in a way that Adam Pepper didn't.

Suso is amazing. He is miles better than any player in our reserves and he's only 16! This is not as an exaggeration put his passing is already on parr with Alonso's. His crossing is amazing too but he doesn't play wide. But his passing in the final third is stunning - he knows how to play a through ball. As defeatest as this sounds, he deserves to be at a team like Arsenal or Barcelona. I can guarentee in those teams, he would already be very close to the first team.

hey bud, I wasnt having a go at you

I am just disappointed in the way the previous administrations handled the academy and that talented boys at the academy couldnt make the step up to the full squad and that there was something fundamentally wrong with the system between the ages of 16 - 21.

There have been some lads who you thought could make it but either through bad attitudes or poor coaching didnt get through.

lets face it Steve heighway was out to win as many trophies as possible towards the end of his career with liverpool. I dont mean to knock steve because he was probably frustrated that the academy / reserve lads werent getting any opportunities but you can ask any coach you want, developping players and winning trophies at that age just dont mix.

In fact to win trophies you have to sacrifice player development.

I know you weren't having a go at me - I was taking the biscuit

With reference to the point above, I'd say the players who we have wrongfully let go are few and far between. Most have been ****e but the one we should never have got rid of is Adam Hammill. This guy will very soon be playing in the premiership.

Interview with the Aussie keeper we have, one of the 17 keepers we have at the club... http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/lates...es-to-the-wall

Teammate who spends longest in the mirror?

Suso with his mad hairstyle. He's always got his hair done for training, no matter what. He probably gets up at 8.30 in the morning and starts fixing his hair before he comes in - he's always got it done up.

                      Most skillful teammate?

Probably Suso again. He's very quick with his feet and is always beating players. He's done really well so far and scored - and set-up - a few goals. He is a very big talent.

Maybe I am being a bit harsh, but If he is not setting the reserves alight now(at 18) then he probably will never make it.

Could be wrong, some kids mature early than others, but I think he will be another Freddy Adu.

                        Much adu about nothing...

yes but think just like warnock these guys have to go ply there trade elsewhere to get enough games to be good enough.

Really i would like to see quite a few of the youngsters loaned out for 2 maybe 3 seasons to clubs. Ok they are not brought up the Liverpool way but not sure thats a bad thing at the moment!!

Huh? Who are you talking about, Suso? He's only 16 and has been at Liverpool for only a few months. He's only recieved clearence (2 months ago) to start playing reserve games and he truly has set the reserves alight. He seems very lightweight but it's not a disadvantage for him - he tore a fairly physical Newcastle reserves team to shreds, so much so that Peter Beardsley (i think he's the newcastle reserve manager) was asking John McMahon all about him. At 16 he should be playing Academy football - not reserve team football. But he is that good a player. I'd even say he's too good to be playing reserve team football but he obviously needs to help his development.
