How is the weather holding out up north (London is back being snowy)? Will this definitely be going ahead?

I'm also hoping we have Pacheco on the bench, it could be a good chance for him to get some more game time, if we can get ourselves into a good position. I feel that now we can have 7 subs we should always have at least one youngster on the bench to give a run out, Pacheco is the obvious one at the moment.

I'm just hoping it doesn't go into extra time, I'm not overly enthusiastic about going to the game in this weather - definitely don't want it to last any longer than necessary. Just need to get the job done, a couple of early goals to settle the nerves and then bring on a few of the younger lads in the second half.

According to BBC, we've hired contractors out to clear the snow and ice from the surrounding areas.

This must be Hicks BIG signing a big JCB

If it's the same weather front that we have just had in South Wales then it's going to look dodgy we had a fair dumping overnight, The wife said she was expecting 8 inches, I thought she's in for a ****ing shock then

The fact we are playing at 12.45 pm on Saturday will probably influence Rafa's selection Im afraid

I thought we should have done it anyway, at some points in the season we've had 3 or 4 defenders on the bench which is pointless.

But if it takes the extra space in the squad for it to happen, then getting rid of the likes of Voronin, Dossena etc will be worth it

i agree, no point in having players around who you don't play, when maybe just getting on the bench is a good experience for any youngster, and if given a chance for 30 or so minutes even better.

The thing is that Dossena hasn't been used as a defender for a while now so counting him as a defender on the bench is a bit misleading. He has clearly been there as an option to give width in midfield. Which remains a problem for us now even including young players whilst Riera is out.

The closest we have is El Zhar so I would like to see him in the squad, Pacheco is the other obvious candidate - it's not like we have a huge array of attackers to fit in.

Seeing as he is still about I would give Babel a start to give us some added pace. I'd look to play a 4-2-3-1 but with the wide players aiming to make an attacking three with Gerrard running from deep. The choice then becomes Benayoun or Kuyt. I think I would start with the latter in the hope that we might play a lot of the game in the final third.

A 4-4-2 with Ngog and Torres up top again would be another possibility.

I think this would be a good game to put El Zhar in.
