    Here in lies the problem

    MAN OF THE MATCH TABLE
    1. Mascherano....................4 first...........3 second.......5 third........34 points
    2. Johnson.........................5 first...........2 second...........................31 points
    3. Reina.............................4 first...........1 second........1 third.........24 points
    4. Lucas.............................2 first...........3 second.......4 third.........23 points
    5. Benayoun.......................2 first...........2 second.......6 third........22 points
    6. Gerrard..........................1 first...........5 second.......2 third..........22 points
    7. Torres............................4 first...........1 third.................................21 points
    8. Ngog..............................2 first..........3 second............................19 points
    9. Carragher.......................2 second......2 third...............................8 points
    10.Degen............................1 first..........1 second............................8 points
    11.Kuyt..............................2 second.......1 third................................7 points
    12.Insua.............................2 second......1 third...............................7 points

Gerrard and Torres in 6th and 7th position in the table is just not good enough from two of the best players in the World.

Its time for these two to start firing on all cylinders if we want to get into the top four otherwise we are ****ed imo.

Also the site of Carragher in 9th is just not good enough from another top drawer player.

The fans call it as they see it and these three key influential players need to step up starting TONIGHT.

Maybe I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but what the frigging hell is this table all about? Firsts, seconds etc in what precisely?

It's the results of the boxing sessions they do in training this year. Three way fights, evey man for himself.

Yossi is surprise, and it turns out Carra is actually a big girl's blouse.

Mascherano has come in for a lot of unnecessary stick this year too.

Reina as our third best player isn’t a good sign either.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It is surprising that Masch is top so far, considering many people feel he has been below par for a lot of the season. I guess nobody's really stood out though which is why the vote has been so split.

We do need our big players to step up, although I think Gerrard and Torres haven't had as much pitch time as the likes of Reina, Lucas, Masch etc which has an effect if just looking at the motm standings.

Lol, registered since 2006 and still doesn't know how the motm works?

Mascherano has been nowhere near our best player of the season so far.
It took him the first 3 or 4 weeks of the season to stop sulking, I'll agree that it's a sad indictment of our season that he is near the top

The level of performances of Gerrard and Torres have perhaps been due to their struggles with injuries and being rushed back to fitness maybe too soon.

Carragher is a different issue, I'd be happy if our defensive players weren't nominated as man of the match that often as that would more likely indicate a positive result. IMO defensive players get most nominations in tight games or when the attacking side of the team isn't performing at it's best. For example if the team won 5-0 it's unlikely the defenders or goalkeeper put in a match winning performance.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Good points there mate but although Gerrard and Torres have missed a number of games you would still expect them to be a lot higher given that they are attacking players)goal scorers that always do better with ratings compared to centre midfielders etc.

So do you think Carraghers ranking is so low because hes had little to do.

I don't know I just think that after Johnson and Mascherano there's little in it and if they were 3rd and 4th (a couple of points higher) it wouldn't be such an issue.

I didn't say that, I just said I'd be happy if our defenders were low down on the man of the match ratings

Reina's been our best player so far this season IMO. Mascherano was below par, no doubt, but he's put in a handful of really good performances which have obviously notched him a few MOMs and hence lots of points.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Mascher had a slow start to the season but he has battled back. From November onwards he was one of our best performers, fighting for every ball while others around him were not giving their all.

Reina deserves to be 1st but GK's never get enough credit. Mascher is def one of our top 2 performers but it just goes to show how poor the rest of the team has been
