    Torres Op

Reports in Spain have confirmed that the operation carried out on Fernando Torres was a success and the Liverpool striker should return to action in six weeks.

Torres suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during Liverpool’s shock 2-1 home defeat to Reading in the FA Cup last Wednesday evening.

"El Nino" underwent surgery yesterday at the Quiron Clinic in Barcelona and was operated on by Dr Ramon Cugat.

The operation on the Liverpool hitman lasted 45 minutes and was considered a success by Cugat and his staff.

Fernando Torres is expected to be available for selection to Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez in six weeks.

The former Atletico Madrid striker has scored 12 goals in 19 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League for Liverpool this season.

they should have operated on his groin too,i know they said rest would cure that problem but while he was under the knife why not do it.

I dont think it's as easy as that , Correct me if I'm wrong wouldnt a specialist in that area need to do it? and not the knee specialist, It's like working on Frankenstien " Open him up and people form a queue at the door with their tools and fill your boots " . I agree that the Groin operation should be done while he's in Pain and plaster with a ****ed knee . Surely he got cleaners and waiters and a wife to look after him

Does anyone know why they didn't, will recovery from this Op take much longer than the 6 weeks?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Because it doesn't work like that. You can't have two operations in two different areas at the same time. The body needs to recover.

I think 6 weeks is the outside time for recovery, could very easily be 4 weeks.
My concern is Torres has been doing regular groin strengthening excercises which he obviously won't be able to continue with after a knee op so that could have a knock on effect as well

Yes it would. And anyway, sometimes these problems are really a weakness that is best cured by building up muscles and that appears to be the prognosis in this case.

the groin is one of those places that is ridiculously difficult to heal.

Whilst playing an 11 a side match for my uni team I tore my groin muscle trying to win a stupid tackle and it went. I got up played on and finished the game.

When I got home and tried to get out of the car I couldnt move my leg and even now some 10 years after it still hurts now and then.

The less you mess around with surgery and let the body heal naturally the better. Another six weeks rest will do him and spain a lot of good.

i'd put money on it now that within a month of torres coming back from this op.he will be out with his groin problem.for all this extra work that he's doing to strengthen his groin,i still haven't seen him move 100% freely.and now he's likely to be resting about 4weeks before he can start training again.
