    Maxi Rodriguez

    ****e debut..

Seriously though, I would have loved to have seen him on earlier.
Not sure how and when Rafa will play him though.

I have a friend who used to manage the Atletico Madrid club shop through Nike.
He still lives in Madrid and sent me the following email yesterday.

Secondly Maxi is a very good midfielder, though in Spain he was considered as forward, but he often plays at the back of forwards.

He is very technical, and very strong minded as all Argentineans.

I really think that he is going to help so much Liverpool, he knows Fernando Torres so much as they have been playing together more than 4 seasons.

Perhaps it was the moment for changing his life in Madrid, you know too many years without winning nothing.

Finally I can say that he is an excellent football player and a good guy.

Keep me informed please about his development in Liverpool.

Your friend knows nothing - Maxi and Fernando only played together for 2 seasons

Problem is, when Maxi and Aquilani came on, we dropped deeper and Stoke pressed on...if we had kept the formation, would we have dropped off as much??

Well people were saying the formation was 'too negative'. Whatever fits their boat I'd say mate.

                Lost in translation.

I didn't even get on to that to be fair.
I shall quiz him. Maybe he knows something.

I thought the formation made the best of our injury worrys if i'm honest...with no Gerrard, Benny, Torres, Riera, Maxi not match fit and Aqui having played thefull 120 on Weds, bringing in Degan and Aureio and switching to 4-4-2 was probably the right move...and it nearly worked, but for yet another last minute slip-up.

So, how many games is that where we've thrown away a lead now?????

I was also wondering how many last minute goals have we conceded this season?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I thought we played 3-5-1-1 on Saturday.

I dread to think, and the annoying thing is it's become a mental block now. The players are panicking every time we're a goal up in the second half. The later it gets the worse it gets.

Oh for the days where we'd go one nil up and you knew it was game over.

Apparently that's the first last minute goal we've conceded in the league which has cost us points. Hard to believe, I know.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

True but it was an exaggeration of what was already happening. Our midfield, Lucas excepted was looking very tired. The real problem was that the ball wasn't sticking up top. It is Ngog's biggest weakness IMO and Kuyt always struggles without someone close to him up top.

IMO, we were always going to be pressed back late in the game. Bringing on attack minded players only served to weaken our ability to weather the pressure. Maxi had to defend in our box and looked totally at a loss where or what he was supposed to be doing. There was no way he, or anyone else, would risk abuse by not mucking in and therefore we had no outlet to escape the pressure. Rafa should've kept the defensive line-up and would've remained safe in the knowledge that he had the personnel best adept to keeping a clean sheet.
