If he's from Coventry then he's doing well to be able to walk and talk at the same time...logic and intelligence would be a huge evolutionary leap for Coventry, you can't expect it from the man.

But has anyone ever seen him walk and talk at the same time? He's always sitting down on sky. And since when did you need logic or intelligence to work for sky sports

It'd be nice to see a football presenter that didn't rely on hyperbole.

We love the game already, you don't need to keep selling it to us to keep us hooked.

i watched the game when i got back late last night to see the goals again etc - skipping through and stopping at random points I somehow stopped on that comment!!

what a ****ing comment! unbelievable - take nothing away from huddlestone and lennon - but to even mention them in the same breath as gerrard and torres is an insult. if a list was compiled of the top 50 players in world football - you can guarentee that even the most bitterist blue would include gerrard and torres - lennon and huddlestone wouldn't even get a look in.

Especially because on the opening day of the season they were going on about how Spurs had a better depth of quality in their squad than we did.

Switched SSN on this morning expecting a bit of positive coverage about us for a change....oh how i was mistaken.

Think the headline was: 'Liverpool win in controversial circumstances at Anfield where Defoe was denied a clear cut goal and Crouch should have had a penalty for a shirt tug....'

Couldnt ****ing believe it, even when we play well and deservedly win the C**ts on Sky are trying to make out we were lucky and undeserving of the win. This kind of thing cant help but seep through to refs when making decisions in further games....what odds we concede a soft penalty this weekend???

Sky ****ing hate that we're getting results at the moment. They showed the form table over the last 6 games (we were 3rd incidentally, not bad for a team in crisis) and they didnt even mention our name when discussing the form teams. They're never one to let facts get in the way of a good story though are they?

Even after the game the post match interview mainly focused on some random comment Rafa made last week about staying at the club for the fans....so Rafa does that show that you considered quitting blah blah blah. ******s.

Sky's all about hyperbole unfortunately. James Richardson's very good, so naturally, he'll never get a job on Sky.

Only last week, that other cunt Merson was harping on how Spurs' overall squad was "a thousand times" better than ours.

I dont think he meant it that way to be honest.

I think he was saying it retrospectively, as in:

"As it turned out, Spurs ended up missing Huddlestone and Lennon more than Liverpool missed Gerrard and Torres"

If anything, he's saying that we played so well, that we didnt miss them.

                    Back handed compliment IMO.

I think we should start taking this type of coverage as a compliment, previously they've been justified in some of their comments about how badly we've played (naturally they over exagerate). Now the fact they are having to pick up on very minor details confirms we are improving, and highlights their desperation to find fault. Long may this nit-picking continue IMO

I was at The Belfry for a conference a few years ago and he was in the bar area with Andy Gray and some Sky technician types (they all had Sky logos on their polo shirts) waiting to go out for a round of golf, so I can vouch that he does actually walk and talk at the same time!

The weird thing is, apart from being much skinnier than he looks on TV (conversely Gray is much fatter and uglier in the flesh - yes it really is possible!), he's much, much hairier and looks even more simian than he does on TV. He's a very strange specimen in real life

I can see that I still think the fact they struggled to actually praise the players on the pitch for us was poor. I was in a pub so didn't get all the commentary admittedly but when I did the positives seemed to be only grudgingly given. I can see why that was the case during the Stoke game (i.e. it's Stoke we should be okay there) but if you accept their original assertion that Spurs went into the game in better shape than us then the players on our side deserve credit for over performing or they could revise their opinions of players they have been deriding. I admit the latter is probably beyond Sky.

On the original thread topic it is one of those things that it is odd that the rule is never applied but when it was briefly the commentators got in a flap about that too. As far as I can tell the law was introduced to stop time wasting, what Reina did was to look for a better pass. So the law, if not in letter, at least in spirit was correctly applied.
