I did not watch the game, I heard it was quite entertaining and the team put in a great defensive performance under the barrage of attacks that were thrown at them by the mighty Wolves and the impressive Doyle. Gerrard, Lucas and Mascherano bossed the midfield. Kyut offered blistering pace and tricky on the counter attack and was unlucky not to score. Our fans sang long into the night, joyously chanting the manager’s name and toasting him for a superb combative performance. According to Source Saj. That is all.

it was just so dire it was untrue.........same old problems though - look at the team from the back.......
caarragher - centre half playing at right back - carragher has always been a quality defender, but even he admits he is not the right man for right back - he tries but struggles going forward and that jarvis lad was giving him nightmares.
Kyriakos - he is just an old school defender - ever **** the man or the ball as hard as you can.
Skrtel - the same as the greek, though confidence so low he seems to miss both
insua - young lad struggling for form/confidence in a woeful side
mascher - will run and tackle people all day - but doesn't have a killer pass, shot, creative bone in his body.
lucas - will run all day - cant fault his effort but he offers nothing in the final 3rd
maxi - i thought he tried, he got the ball down, tried to play football but looks short of fitness and was too often by passed by the hoof.
riera - similar to maxi
gerrard - either not fully fit, or not interested - either way he shouldn't have started this game. Been on the bench with a view to come on if needed.
kuyt - again, another who will run all day but just not a threat
Away to wolves - who were ****ing ****.....we had at most, 3 creative footballers on the pitch - maxi making his first start and struglging for fitness, riera coming back from an injury and struggling for fitness and gerrard who is either unfit or can't ****ed.
The ball just bi passed the three 'creative players' - by either one of the defenders hoofing it, or by one of lucas/mascher dropping deep to stop the hoof, taking it off the centre backs, then hoofing it
We will not finish 4th - we are not good enough. There is no spark, no threat, no creativity and no pace in the team. No penetration - no-one who looks capable of getting the ball and having a go, putting the oppostion on the back foot.
We have been saying this for weeks now - something has to change, either we get some magical signing in too turn it round and give everyone the lift needed or rafa grows a pair and changes it.
Get some of the young lads in who are young and eager to impress - pacheco for example, he may look like a greedy ******* when i have seen him but at least we know he will try and ****ing score.
I'm going again this saturday....great
- i personally would be more excited about the game if i knew say we were starting with
------------------------reina------------------------
degen-----------carragher------skrtel-------------insua
Maxi--------------Aquilani-------MAscher----------Eccelston
-------------------Kuyt-----------Pacheco
if that was the team, it would prob shock some enthusiasm into everyone - the players and the fans. But i just ****ing know it's go to be the same ****e - 4 defenders who offer nothing going forward, two defensive midfielders, the wingers totally by passed and a striker who just works hard.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Our wing play was ****ing awesome as well, Insua is going to be a star and Riera is the best winger in the world ever.Originally posted by Bari View PostI did not watch the game, I heard it was quite entertaining and the team put in a great defensive performance under the barrage of attacks that were thrown at them by the mighty Wolves and the impressive Doyle. As i've said, it's gone beyond 'poor form' - this is just our level now.
We're mediocre. Top sides win most of the time, which is why the same sides are ALWAYS near the top of the table.
The next batch are inconsistent and mediocre - which is why one season, Villa will lead the chasing pack, one season Spurs will and one season someone else will. Someone else = us.
Not one of the chasing pack is definitively better than the others, it's just inconsistent mediocrity. Bit of decent form = move upto 4th or 5th, couple of rubbish results = back down to 7th. And yo-yo back and forth.
City will take our place in the 'big four' and unless we make radical changes in terms of genuine investment or a new manager who isnt too rigid to think outside the box, and who can get the best out of the players at his disposal, we will no longer be a Champions League team.

That penalty was insane, I imagine we would have been murdered in the press if he'd hit the bar, nerves though I'll give him that for sure. I think the Icelandice team is better now than the one that won the silver at the Olypmics - I know we usually play the same six but yesterday I think everyone scored and key players got a good rest, the Russians just gave up after a going 7 down. Hope you guys beat the croats tomorrowOriginally posted by Darkon View PostAs Wilbek commented after the game when asked about the result: "you only have to lead once in a game, and that's in the end".
But what a penalty throw to claim the win
how composed do you have to be to lob the goalie when there is 0 seconds left on the clock and for the win
But hope Iceland and Denmark go through, and we have a good chance both of us. I am really impressed by the icelandic national team right now, such a good team spirit on the team, and you guys can play with the same 6 for a whole match more or less!

yeah we have to face up to it - it's that bad! - without serious investment and a major overhaul we will fill short. City will be out to buy everyoneOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostAgree with pretty much all of that.

I look at spurs and villa - two average sides - who just seem to have so much more than us!!
We ****ing laughed on here when we were linked with Downing and Milner!! **** me they would waltz into our team at the moment and look like maradone and pele reborn - villa also have some abonglahor and young who get the fans of their seats.
Spurs the same, with the likes of lennon, defoe.
I know we have had injuries to two world class players. But the squad as whole just looks so.........................lamei own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Arsenal included, the only two that don't EVER struggle for top 4 is Chelsea and Utd, City will eventually join those two, i wonder what the common denominator is with Ch£ls£a and U£d.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostAgree with pretty much all of that.

Of course Arsenal did atleast have owners with a little nouse, and have the stadium in place, which will stand them in good stead for the future, enabling them to push on if they decide to spend money.
We are a tad behind in our vision.Last edited by Vermilion; 27-01-10, 11:33 AM.

I think we have to play 4-4-2 when Torres is out, when we play anyone else upfront in the lone striker role we tend to sit way too deep, and since we can only string 2-3 passes together we don't carry any goal threat what so ever. It happened against Spurs as well but we Aquilani offered some composure and intellegence in midfield. Gerrard is so tense right now that he is doing more damage than good.
If I could pick the team against Bolton I'd choose:
Reina
Carra - Skrtel - Sotiris - Insua
Gerrard - Aquilani - Mascher - Riera
Kuyt - Ngog
I think Gerrard needs to be pushed aside a bit, but obviously he will still go inside a bit but the width isn't coming from the right either way. This would be a solid team, capable of keeping the ball but offering some attacking threat with Kuyt ordered to stay upfront and with Ngog even further upfront, pin them down if we have to.* The above is posted in my opinion. Can anyone explain to me this obsession with playing Insua?Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI think we have to play 4-4-2 when Torres is out, when we play anyone else upfront in the lone striker role we tend to sit way too deep, and since we can only string 2-3 passes together we don't carry any goal threat what so ever. He's missed more tackles than he's made, cost us at least 75% of the goals we have conceded in the last 15 games and is so obviously colour blind (along with Mascher & Kuyt) as he couldn't find a Red shirt to save his life.
The lad maybe young & maybe lacking confidence but that is not an excuse at this level, time to give him a rest Mr. Benitez!

I'd love to give him a rest, but Aurelio is injured I think, don't know who can replace him.Originally posted by ianbridgeman View PostCan anyone explain to me this obsession with playing Insua?
