3rd is guaranteed CL money. 4th means a difficult play off round to get that money.

I don't think the play offs are a bad thing. They get you performance level higher earlier in the season because your playing competitive matches straight off. They reduce the lucrative friendlies that you can play though.

With a world cup though some players with have very little break, and will have a shorter pre-season, plus we never win these games as comfortably as we probably should. Also at times our opening Premiership games have suffered because we've rested players for the second leg
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I've seen your white text, but part of the reason for me is due to a shortened preseason and often playing teams who are part way through the season

              I actually agree with that.

Agree - we have struggled in the qualifiers. I think Toulouse is the only team we did well against. We were lucky against Liege (they missed a penalty IIRC) - outplayed us and I think we struggled against the Israeli team too.

And I think 3rd place is achievable if we can beat Arsenal on Wednesday

Well, Ive been thinking that Arsenal wouldnt be able to stand the pace at the top. Its between Chav and Manure for the League (would prefer a chav win tbh)... The league is like the Tour De France... As in, theres been a breakaway from the main group (Chav, Manure and Arsenal) but Arsenal are not as strong as Chav and Manure so theyre dropping of and will get caught by the chasing pack... Us, Citeh, Villa and Spurs... now for me 5 into 2 CL spots is better than 4 into 1.

I reckon Arsenals season could go bigtime tits up... Seriously I think theyre going to **** up!! Lets go for third... and beat them at theirs!!

If we beat the Arse that's a nine point swing over three games. We were eleven points behind them before the Scum beat them at the Emirates. If we beat them aswell they'll struggle to recover any momentum.

We have some difficult games still to play but the way the teams around us are dropping points if we continue to remain solid at the back and get Torres back we're definitely in with a chance of getting third.

If we see the type of commitment we saw yesterday in every match, who knows what will happen.

Problem is, we dont see it in every match.

A tough ask to beat them at their place.

Very much so, I'd take a draw. We're playing much better now and have our backbone back...but we're still not attacking particularly well and we're really missing Nando, Yossi and Johnson.
