    The Red Card

Should it have been one? I think the Greek only had one foot off the ground at impact - the other slid along the ground. That's what I saw. Anyone else agree? Not sure it should have been a red - a yellow definitely, but not a red. Just wondering if it would be repealed upon appeal..Fellaini should have been booked at least. Seeing as the ref missed Fellaini's foul, it's a bit unfair he'll get away with nothing..

I know it sounds bad, but delighted to see him go off as I think he was key for them, partic since Arteta doesn't seem anywhere near match fit (so the 11 men didn't seem to matter as much).

I can't really argue with Kyriagos' sending off. However he actually made minimal contact with Fellani, who stamped down on his ankle, therefore I think he should equally have seen red. Especially considering his follow through on Kuyt earlier.

He went in two footed with his studs up. It was a dangerous tackle and deserved a red. Fellaini should also have seen red as his stamp was as bad if not worse than Kyriagos' tackle.

Sorry, but when a tackle i deemed dangerous it is irrelevant whether contact was made. So the issue is whether it was dangerous, not whether it connected.

To decide that, imagine what would have happened had Screech not jumped. The Greek would probably have broken his ankle. So, yes it was a red card.

Now, you cannot punish a player for landing on an opponent if it was accidental or even, when he is trying to avoid a dangerous tackle, careless, but what Screech did was both deliberate and dangerous, so he should have been red carded too.

I think this was the widely held conclusion on the websites at the time, and I've seen nothing that changes my mind.

Didn't realise you were officiating yesterday.

He's right though. They both should have gone. And if Pienaar had gone earlier everyone would have been less likely to go flying in for everything. It was good fun though, a proper derby.

It was the correct decision, you cant go in like that, going to ground and with two feet.

Fellaini should also have seen red though, for going over the top of the ball and having his studs up.

It was clearly a joke relating to the typo guys.

Rednapp gave a good analysis when he compared it to Pienaar's on Masch.

Pienaar turned his foot on his challenge and got a yellow.
That looked much worse than Sotiroisisis'is one.

The fact he had both feet off the ground made it an easier decision for the ref.

Maybe the Refs need to go back to school and revisit the law on this one.

i think that it shouldnt have been red as it ended up being an ok tackle.

but according to the rules it was a red whether you connect or not its red.

i suppose actually i agree but both where reds and pinnear should have gone too

not sure if carra should have gone for th first tackle as i read someone on hear say he should.

I would hate for video evidence to brought into the game but when you watch these clips back, it makes you realise just how difficult it can be, to make a quick decision.

i thought it was red as soon as he went in,that was my view from the lower cent.felliani's injury though was his own fault,it was shown on goals on sunday this morning, its his right ankle that he hurts and thats not touched by greek.felliani stands on the greek and his ankle goes over as can be seen in the last clip above^he should have got a defo red for that as there was no attempt to get the ball unlike the greek god but it was still a red i'm affraid.
                            who's arsed?

I seldom wish injury on anyone but I'm almost ashamed to say that after the tackle, more than once, I said "I hope the cunt's broken his leg". Can't stand the dirty ****house.
