I thought I was being very conservative, with draws against Sunderland at home and Birmingham away when I'd really be annoyed if we didn't win, but I had us on 69 too, 5 clear of Villa and City on 64 and Spurs on 62.Originally posted by PTP View Post

I suppose all it shows you is that on paper we've got by far the easiest run in. One of the others will have to go on a good run pulling off a couple of unexpected wins, or we will have to slip up pretty badly, for us to fail to get fourth.
Didn't bother with Everton either!

On the BBC predictor I had us coming in at 4th on 69 with city finishing at 68 points, villa at 67 and tottenham on 64.
So basically a very close run in for me, but we do look like having the easiest fixtures from now on, but we still need to start winning some of the games against the defensive sides.

That is the key to finishing 4th- being able to beat the sides that sit back. We've struggled in the past- especially without Torres. We really miss Alonso's creativity this season & the worry is that it will cost us that 4th place, despite the "easy" run-in.Originally posted by Darkon View PostOn the BBC predictor I had us coming in at 4th on 69 with city finishing at 68 points, villa at 67 and tottenham on 64.

Yep, that is exactly my worry as well. We haven't been able to break down a side playing for the draw almost the entire season, and unless that changes we won't finish fourth.Originally posted by PC Plod View PostThat is the key to finishing 4th- being able to beat the sides that sit back. About half of the remaining fixtures are against that kind of sides so we need to start producing something special soon.

Based on our fixtures imo we've got the easiest runs, but we're also one of the only teams in the premier league league to lose to Portsmouth! Just depends if we can get some consistency going. Be good once, Gerrard, Beni and Torres are firing on all cylinders, when this is going to happen i haven't a clue!'The tide is very much in our court now.'

Of the 11 remaining games, 7 are against sides currently in the bottom half of the table and only Man U and Chelsea are in the Top 8.
Blackburn...12th
Wigan........15th
Portsmouth.20th
Man U.........2nd
Sunderland..14th
Brirmingham .10th
Fulham........9th
West Ham...13th
Burnley.......19th
Chelsea.......1st
Hull............17th
We have to learn to be ruthless with teams lower down the table. However, and this should be pointed out, we have Torres, Benny and Johnson all returning in the next week or so and our record vs the bottom half is decent (ish)
Played 13, won 8, drawn 3, lost 2, DG +17.
So, if we can get some form back through the returning players, we should be in with a chance.
