How we could do with the likes of Alonso. Now, was that Rick’s decision to sell him?
Nah, Rafa can do wrong. There's been good signings and bad ones and he's played a part in all of those.

It's just interesting how credit is given to Houllier when it's Rafa slagging time. Does anyone believe for a minute we'd have won in 05 if Houllier was in charge.

How's this for a fight then.

In the summer if no new investment is found sell Torres and Gerrard to free up resources to improve our general squad. We can't afford to employ world class players, so let's cut our cloth accordingly.

        Discuss.

I'll bite, for £130m you could replace both the 'ageing' Gerrard and 'injury prone' Torres plus have money left over for more.

            Eg
            David Villa - £35m
            Sergio Aguero - £35m
            Frank Ribery - £40
            Arda Turan - £15m
            We come not to play.

No, this money should be put towards building our new stadium, not squad rebuilding. We've got a good enough squad to challenge for the league next season, Aquilani will be even better, so too will be Maxi. Add to that list the young Ngog and the potentially world class Pacheco.

New stadium sorted and a team fit to challenge for the league.

Gerrard is less effective in that role without Torres in front of him, and Alonso (or someone) dictating the game from behind him.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Certainly looks like the kind of manager we could do with as no other manager would want to work within similar constraints as well as the ownership uncertainty surrounding the club. Unfortunately I don't think he'd be daft enough to take the job as he can't possibly win and would be under constant sniping and pressure
I just wish Benitez would be a bit more adventurous. Nothing wrong with winning games...
                      Really?

Rafa doesn't play defensive football, that's a myth, a total and ridiculous myth. That same team scored more goals than any other team in the league last season, which destroys your argument.

We're not at our best, which explains our toothless kind of performances of late. Let's not have that argument anymore will you, it's just annoying to hear the same myth over and over again when it's been demystified so many times.

I didn't say he played defensive football did I? I said I wished he'd be more adventurous - not the same thing (and hardly an argument to be refuted!)

were on about this season....why aren't we at our best the damn season is nearly over ......i'll tell you why the players are fed up playing for the manager hence the lack of passion and commitment....oh and while were at it can you tell me why the estemmed manager cannot get the players to pass and move or even simply pass a ball
