£150m gross about £60-70m net (Sales of Keane and Berbatov raised ~£50m plus a few others)Originally posted by Craig_H View Post£150m net spend in the last 20 months? The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

One season..Originally posted by Craig_H View PostYou can talk of relative spending etc, but would you swap our squad for their's?
I wouldnt. We have a better overall squad IMO and yet, they're above us.
Redknapp cant be that much of a donkey, as some seem to be claiming.
Lets see Arry take Spurs into the Champions league season in season out almost, and while in that league...actually put up a challenge to win the thing..maybe even win it, and while doing that, it go's without syaing he'd need to keep Spurs in the top 4 of the Prem most seasons, then, when he's done that...we can talk about him in the same sentence as Rafa, we'll forgive him having not won any Spanish Titles as he's not managed there.

Er i know, that's why i started with "One Season".Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThat's the funny thing mate, i was talking about this season, cos it's the current season.
And my view still stands, that one season finishing ahead of LFC means nothing, (unless we were 2nd), as far as judging a manager go's, lets see him manage a side with some expectancy, see how he does long term with Spurs.
Same go's for O'neil at Villa, it's one thing making the top 4, staying there while trying to realistically win the Champs league is another thing.Last edited by Vermilion; 02-03-10, 11:32 PM.

You appear to have completely missed or ignored what I said.Originally posted by carheex View PostThe pressure IS more on us as we are servicing a massive debt and could be ****ed without CL money. Spurs aren't in such a precarious position as us.
Just to be clear, I’m refering to the article about Redknapp at the start of this thread, entitled ‘Redknapp: More pressure on Liverpool & City because of what they spent’ In other words, the topic of this thread.
I’m not disagreeing with what you are saying about our debt and need for CL money. I am referring solely to what Redknapp claims in this article i.e. Liverpool are under more pressure than Spurs because they have spent more. In case you haven’t read it, he makes absolutely no reference to Liverpool’s debt, need for CL qualification, history or level of expection of the club. So I am not disagreeing with any of this in questioning Redknapp.
What I am saying is that Redknapps comments just a little bit rich considering that he has been outspending us in recent transfer windows.
Just to recap once again because I really hope it sinks in this time: I am talking purely about Redknapp’s comments about spending and am absolutely not under any misunderstanding about how important Champion’s League qualification is to Liverpool..

Ok so I’m probably guilty for being a teensy bit selective about the time period.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostAnd how about before then?
You cant really use a selective time period for this
But to be fair, its effectively 2 years seeing as the window doesnt open again until June. Thats 4 transfer windows and more or less the same period that Harry, who has done the majority of that spending, has been in charge. So its a significant enough amount of time.
In my defence, I could argue that Redknapp has also been selective about time periods, being that we must have to go back 2-3 years to when we were outspending them..

Except, it is now fairly clear that this is not what he was saying.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostYou appear to have completely missed or ignored what I said.

The 'spent more' bit was in relation to City.
