Lovely first time pass from Lucas that helped create Torres' goal.

It was pretty good yeah, if a little overhit

Still, it's been what, 2 and a half years? He had to play a good forward pass sooner or later

Yeah. He meant to over-hit it out for a goal kick but scuffed it.

How did Lucas play today alongside Gerrard?

To be honest, he wasnt hugely noticeable. Solid but didnt make a significant impact. Most notable things i remember are when he lost the ball in his own half in the opening 45 minutes and this led to a dangerous moment for us. And when he was manhandled to the ground. Plus the slightly overhit pass to Torres, which indirectly led to our winner.

I like Lucas but at times I got a bit frustrated with him today, wanted him to be bolder with his passing. He can do it, he has a nice way of feeding or sometimes even fizzing forward passes through gaps into feet. But today he took the easy option too many times. At one point, with a good opportunity to move the ball forwards quickly, he gave a 10 yard sideways ball to Maxi - who was in a more difficult position - who first-timed it back to Lucas, who then gave it him straight back, then got it straight back again, and eventually rolled it inside and across the park to someone else....aaarrggghhh I was tearing my hair out.

Not just today, that's him to a tee. He's capable, as you say and he's still developing that side of his game, so it wont always come off for him, but he needs to try them and with time, he'll perfect it. But if he hardly does it, he'll never get the hang of it.

I know what you mean but as he was the designated holding player today he would have had strict instructions from Rafa to keep it simple and let Gerrard try the more ambitious/progressive passes.

He's definitely got it in his locker........just needs to grow in confidence. In recent weeks though i've noticed he's been more active in the final third and trying more forward passes and one-two's, he's nearly scored a couple too. When Masch is alongside him he definitely needs to be more adventurous.

It's not just today though, and even when he's assigned the holding role, i doubt Rafa strictly instructs him to only pass sideways. He's better than that.

Just have to say yet again, Mascherano was superb. Amazing engine he's got, he never stopped running up and down the right hand side, and defensively, i dont remember him getting caught out. Superstar.

Aye I think it's confidence. I think he worries about the reaction if he tries a bolder one and gives it away. There'd be groans and he knows it. I think he should try and be a bit bolder more often, and folk need to cut him a bit of slack. Xabi gave it away plenty. Everyone does. So long as it's not in stupid, dangerous area then it's not a problem. He shouldn't worry about it so much.

It's unfair really, it's all crowd favourites and such like. Torres did something bizarre in the second half, he kind of "toe-d' the ball randomly nowhere, completely relinquishing possession unnecessarily and the Kop reacted by chanting his name.

Lucas would've been slaughtered, the poor fella. The groans are unfortunately inevitable and they're not going to stop, so Lucas just needs to man up and ignore it if it happens, as opposed to not trying things.

He had loads of stick in earlier days, and he shrugged it to one side and got on with his job, so he can do it with this issue too. Nowadays, he's getting his name sung more and more often, so this should give him more confidence.

What Lucas needs now, more than anything else, is a haircut.

It is alot about confidence, but I've noticed a few times when he loses possession he gets quite a bit of stick from other players, it seems more so than other players do. Maybe it's not just the fans on his back perhaps it's some of the players as well? Maybe this is why he always plays it safe
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
