That is a fair point. I quite like the idea of having both attacking and defensive options for both fullback positions.

Every player has to leave eventually. Sami left due to the desire to not be a back-up player, and Carra will do the same. If he is guaranteed a fair share of games, he'll stay. If he's told he'll only play if other players get injured, he'll leave. I reckon it's a simple as that.

Until the end of the season perhaps but after that, I'm not quite sure.
I'd like to think he could continue as a squad player but I don't see that happening tbh.

So I don't really think we NEED him.

We NEED Pepe Reina and we NEED Fernando Torres,

Really need to make sure he stays as loosing hypia cost us the titltle challenge we were all expecting imo.
I really hope rafa bends over backwards to keep him and explain that he may get less games but off the pitch he will still be paramount to a title challenge

I realise the issue itself is interesting enough to discuss but the Sunday Times article which was then picked up by the BBC is such a non-story it's pathetic.

As far as I can see all he's said is he'd play somewhere else if Liverpool don't want to give him any more.

                That's a story?
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I think it's laughable how many on here see him as expendible, he hasn't been on top form all season as he is the first to admit but what you see on the pitch is probably less than 50% of what Carra brings to LFC.
His influence, dedication, commitment, professionalism etc... the day in day out stuff will be horribly missed were he to leave.

Some people are too quick to move onto the 'next player'
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

i agree, its a good 'what if?' disscusion but as for the journos behind these storys its like my dad always said "journalists wont let the truth get in the way of a good scoop!"

Suit yourself pal, but it is a fact that he's average in the air, slow, contributes nothing going forward, looks like a penalty-kick waiting to happen and is past his sell-by date. If you think that's "absaloute (?) garbage", fair enough.

These are all very valid points that some seem willing to completely overlook.

absolute garbage, better? seems like my spelling and your take on cara are both a bit off.

he has never had pace so thats a non issue and he has always been a route one defender but the commanding presence he has on the pitch and his fearless 100% commitment more than outway his shaky form at the start of this season.

more knee-jerk reactions are just what we need "pal"

good football mangers know that nearly all players are expendable.

ginsoak ships people out so does wenger capello does i bet too

shanks once said that he had been to loyal to players who where passed their best.

Carra is just a player and we will find other players. whether they fill the gap or whether they will be better i dont know

i think it shows that we are not at the top anymore if we where it would just be a fact that we move on to keep being succesful we would thank carra for the great service he gave us but realise that for both club and player it would be time to move on. yes it would be sad for us the fans and for carra but things move on dont they.
