Without Lucas digging in we would be well beaten by now. It speaks volumes for the player when Rafa is happy to take Masher out of the middle and play him in another position.

Masher has been ok, but we are getting caught a little because he positional sensehas not been the best tonight

depressing stuff. we've played better since they scored but that shouldn't give anyone the impression that we're playing well.

we seem to be willing to support defending players in our own half with 2 and 3 red shirts nearby but once we get into the wigan half, everyone has to do it on their own it seems. at one stage benayoun was making a run from the left, ran into a couple of wigan defenders - you could draw a circle of 20 meters all around him and there wasn't a red shirt to pass to.

and torres might score cos he's brilliant but all our passes to him are hoofs from the centre which he either has to sprint wide to get or chase down the middle where a wigan defender can get a good kick at him.

maxi - positionally disciplined. that's it.
lucas - very good when we were defending more. nothing to offer now that we're chasing it. slowly.

this is no ****in way to spend a monday night when there's a kitchen ceiling that needs more filling and sanding. might actually get the wife to record me sanding the ****er and i'll watch it the next time we're playing. with a spanish radio station on to creatw the audio excitement.

I've stuck up for Lucas before but that has to be the worst I've seen him play. Gerrard has been awful as well. Our shape is all wrong and there is zero movement.

We're lacking confidence, Torres isn't fully fit and Johnson is on the bench.

The ref is not allowing us to get a passing game going as he's dishing the cards out all over the place.

Rafa's got the tactics spot on but they lads aren't playing well due to their low confidence levels. If we can equalise it'll be a good result against a decent team away from home.

Taxi isn't PeteBest, but if I was, this is what I'd write.

Dirk Kuyt is a diabolical football player. Passionate, nice fella and chips in with a lot of important goals etc but no positives other than that. Shocking technically.

nothing wrong with the pitch, its just been laid and its got 150million's worth of **** on it at the moment
