        No one is holding the sacking from Newcastle against Kenny though are they?

          Thats what happens when you win leagues with two different clubs in England. When Hodgson does that im sure his Blackburn debacle will be erased too.

                Hodgson has never been in the position of taking on a team with advantages Kenny had in either of those jobs in England. I think most of Hodgsons work in England has been very credit worthy - essentially you are picking one season out of a long career.

                I'm not a massive fan of Hodgson getting the job but on the other hand his work at Inter, Fulham and elsewhere does make him look like a very solid candidate to steady the ship and make the best of limited resources.

                Realistically all of the other plausible candidates anyone has mentioned represent at least as big a risk as Hodgson. He isn't the candidate I would chose but I think the impression that he is vastly worse than the alternatives is pretty fanciful at this point in time.

                              Not sure really - I think it says at least as much about a culture of clubs wanting to appoint foreign managers as a sign of prestige. I would use a comparison with Harry Redknapp at Spurs (yes I know he hasn't won anything but no one has been thinking realistically about us winning the league with any manager next season so I feel the comparison is fair).
