He's in his 60s and hasnt won a trophy outside Scandinavia. Plays negative football and its hard to see him changing that. Already sacked by a club in this League. His away record in this league is atrocious and a massive worry. He seems reluctant to use young players aswell which given our dour financial state is not good. He's got a few positives but I see far more negatives and am hugely worried about this appointment.Originally posted by Paul12 View PostI don't understand why so many are negative bout Hodgson. The fact is that he HAS improved everyone of Fulham's players and has improved the team coherence, balance etc.
They're in our league so its very relevant.Originally posted by Paul12 View PostI agree he failed at Blackburn, but he has succeeded in a lot of places that why is Blackburn particularly relevant?

Hodgson has never been in the position of taking on a team with advantages Kenny had in either of those jobs in England. I think most of Hodgsons work in England has been very credit worthy - essentially you are picking one season out of a long career.Originally posted by Chris View PostThats what happens when you win leagues with two different clubs in England. When Hodgson does that im sure his Blackburn debacle will be erased too.
I'm not a massive fan of Hodgson getting the job but on the other hand his work at Inter, Fulham and elsewhere does make him look like a very solid candidate to steady the ship and make the best of limited resources.
Realistically all of the other plausible candidates anyone has mentioned represent at least as big a risk as Hodgson. He isn't the candidate I would chose but I think the impression that he is vastly worse than the alternatives is pretty fanciful at this point in time."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Not sure really - I think it says at least as much about a culture of clubs wanting to appoint foreign managers as a sign of prestige. I would use a comparison with Harry Redknapp at Spurs (yes I know he hasn't won anything but no one has been thinking realistically about us winning the league with any manager next season so I feel the comparison is fair).Originally posted by Chris View PostYeah, no one with massive ambitions seems to want to appoint him. I guess that says it all doesnt it?"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

oh come on mate, everybody is getting way too over sensitive on here especially when referring to Rafa. Its like he's fast becoming a saint or something.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostNo need for the 'Lord Rafa' remark either.
If you of all people find the term Lord Rafa insulting we may as well all give up.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde
