Because we are no longer going to be in the top 4 and won't be playing in the champions league.Originally posted by JHP View PostRoy Hodgson has always seemd to me to be a very sensible person and a good football manager.
However I wonder how many clubs, given the choice, would take Roy Hodgson over Rafa. I honestly can't believe many would. I would like to hear why LFC think he's a better choice.
I want to support him if he becomes manager but I think it will be hard, much much harder than at any time in the 40 odd years I've supported LFC.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

I agree that's probably why Rafa left but I'm sure most of us think Rafa was just pointing out the error of their ways and he was right in doing so.Originally posted by Marsh View Postso if you owned a business and one of your employees constantly argued with you and slagged you off you wouldnt want someone different?
I am not saying that Rafa was wrong obviously most fans are happy he did and that he gave us some insight to what was happening but that is the reason he went and the poor season gave them the opportunity to do it.
as an employer surely they wanted someone to do as they where told?
also there may be some benifit to everyone pulling in the same direction.
Though if i had my was Rafa would still be manager but this doesnt mean i cant see why he went.
I agree with you that in the short term it is easier managing compliant people but the Rafa situation is probably a bit like the one where the risk manager for (I think it was) HBOS was sacked for constantly pointing out to the board the risks they were running - they didn't like what he was telling them, maybe if they'd listened the company would still exist and we wouldn't have had to bail them out.
Maybe Rafa was wrong and Hodgson will transform us. Though I obviously want that to happen strangely and irrationally I have this bit of me wanting Rafa to be proved right.

Tactically very good and has a decent track record of having gotten the best out of teams with limited budget.Originally posted by Operation View PostI'd love to see Roy Hodgson given the job. Great guy, good record and lots of experience. Would totally change the culture of the club, in a good way I think.
And most importantly, it's realistic.Originally posted by liverpooltj View PostNot a bad idea come to think of it. He reminds me of our Bob a bit in terms of his demeanor.Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Posti'd have woy.Originally posted by Mike View PostSee, i was right thinking about roy
Honestly though, is very well regarded, has done wonders with the limitations he has e.g. no money like us....
Would be decent appointment imo, and he would probably take the job with both hands. So 3 months on, why are many of the same people above so ****ed off that it could be Roy?Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI never thought I'd be saying this a few years ago but I too would take Hodgson. None of the blue riband names are gonna want to touch us with a bargepole with such a dearth of financial clout and such rampant uncertainty and negativity about the place. Roy would take the job, no question, and I'd take him.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

because superior managers are up for the job, not to mention kenny. if the press are to be believed we are this close to playing attractive football. its probably a lot more to do with the board apparently settling for roy who is a decent choice and seemed to be within our means 3 months ago, but is probably not the best we could do now.dave of mutilation

but three months ago we could still have made the CL. Surely 3 months ago we could have attracted better managers than now?Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postbecause superior managers are up for the job, not to mention kenny. if the press are to be believed we are this close to playing attractive football. its probably a lot more to do with the board apparently settling for roy who is a decent choice and seemed to be within our means 3 months ago, but is probably not the best we could do now.
I can't make sense of what you say. The first page of this thread see's several people saying they'd have Roy. Now we are in a bigger mess and no one wants him. Surely his stock has gone up since 8th March after the impressive Euro run?
I think its because people deep down thought Rafa was safe. Now he's gone and a replacement gets closer people are getting twitchy.
You said you want Roy.

The fact that Kenny has stepped forward for the job and not been picked is the biggest ****ter. If Kenny had not stepped forward then fair enough Roy should been given a fair crack but Kenny did step forward and it is a no brainer for the board who will no doubt **** it up and get a yes man in who will allow the sale of our best players.
