Certainly I wish the team puts on a performance that makes us proud, but I suspect it will be a performance taht makes us cringe. This season has been a total nightmare from the first game and everything time there has been a glimmer of hope it has disappeared.

Okay so this is sort of opening myself up for criticism but never mind: the performance on Monday was woeful and at the heart of the problem was a lack of movement in midfield but I actually quite liked the idea of the team - with the three interchangeable players behind Torres with creativity. I'd be tempted to try the same sort of team setup. Perhaps with Aquilani in for Benayoun.

I can however see arguments for almost any changes. The one foremost in my head would be to move Mascher into the middle to ensure we had some level of movement. He also seems less troubled by Gerrard's mood than some of our other players.

Id ditch the whole midfield from monday. Babel and Riera on the wings, Aquilani and Mascher in the middle and Ngog-Torres upfront.
