He really is not the problem though. Put any world class striker in our team instead of him and they'll be pissed off too. He's feeding on scraps, he'd score 50 goals a season at Arsenal/Mancs/Chelsea. Rafa's using him as a one man counter attack and it's total bull****.

        Are you Steven Gerrard's ego?

WHY THR **** would Jose want to come to a team in dire need of spending on new players with a budget of £20m... really get him out your head! Only options I think we have that may work are Martinez or Hodgson.

Not the problem, no. You talk as if there's just one problem here and it's not as simple as that. There are a million problems and at the moment he's one of them. Albeit very low down on the list. The very long list.

I missed the first 20 mins as I was held up on the way home from work. Watched from 20mins to half time and thought 'this is great, we're all over them - great response from the team', as Torres nearly scored with a header, and a great bit of football put Babel clean through.

Then the second half was as bad as Wigan.

Surely that 25 mins before half time should have shown us that if you move up the pitch and press Lille they are there for the taking? Instead we sat too deep, didn't commit a single man in support of Torres and Gerrard at times, and paid the inevitable price. The tactics are all wrong at the moment, and aren't getting the best out of the team at all. It's being compounded by some poor form (and possibly poor attitude) from senior players who would normally be salvaging some of these games (how many has Gerrard scored all season again?)

I'd still be nervous about Rafa going, because as Lecter pointed out in the investment thread, who the hell is going to want to come and take over this underperforming side with no money, no champions league football, and a warring boardroom? But when the only argument you've got left for a manager to stay is the purely negative one that the replacements might not be interested then he's probably on his last legs.

He's got to get fourth and win the Europa now to stand a chance of staying, and neither are looking remotely likely at the moment. If he pulled it off I'd keep him, as it would mean us going on a fantastic run of form from now to the end of the season, but I feel we may be witnessing his last days...

Young, Milner and Downing please - for Kuyt, Riera and Lucas. Cheers.

O'Neill is ****, the most overrated manager in the League

Ok so they dont want to fight for Rafa but what about the fans that spend their hard earned cash travelling around supporting these players.

That spell in the second half of the 1st half was very encouraging. To see us retreat to the same old dross in the 2nd half was very, very depressing.

He's right though mate. I dont like it when people's heads drop and they whinge, but they're only human. In an ideal world, they'd roll up their sleeves and fight for it - which had been happening not so long ago, but there comes a point where anyone's patience would run out.
