See i wouldn't take Buffon - we have reina, for me easily top three in the world and younger than buffon - no need to have them both

Yes to zambrotta grosso and pirlo as i mentioned, though question marks on zambrotta/pirlo age and how they'd adjust coming into the prem - and gross yes cause we are desperate for left backs, but if the reports were too believed that when we signed him dossena was ahead in the pecking order then hmmmm

totti, again similar to grosso, we are so short up front that any option would do but i'd like to think we could get better.

i reckon it couldnt hurt to have the best goalkeeper from days gone by as back up to pepe. also a little bit of competition wouldnt hurt would it.

totti.....yes we could do better but he is a creative spark which is something we are missing and totally agreed on grosso....we need two left backs in the summer and he would be a good back up.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

hmm - if buffon was prepared to be a the number two then yeah i'd agree - i'd suspect though he'd want more than that.

don't get me wrong about totti - if we had a choose this summer, and it was the squad stays exactly as it is - and we can either add totti, or no-one - i'd take him in a heartbeat. I would just like to think we could do better,

We defo need one top class left back though.

I was referring to the brilliant signings Dossena and Aquilani (at least so far - it's still too early to judge him, but we must admit that he's not what we were hoping for) turned out to be. Somehow these Italian boys just fail when they move abroad, look at Zambrotta for example. He moved to Barca when he was at his prime, he was immediately **** there and he is **** even now! If you would take him you must be insane. Or remember Cannavaro's brilliance at Real Madrid just after being named in the team of the tournament in Germany. Or Luca Toni at Bayern, Fabio Grosso at lyon, they all moved there for big amounts of money, failed to play a big role at their clubs and then moved back to Italy for sixpence, where they somehow managed to rediscover their old form. Now give me one current Italian player that succeeded while playing abroad - Giuseppe Rossi? Alessandro Diamanti? That's two players, one has never actually played in Italy and the other one is crap.

Hehe, I was about to add "and don't give me Di Canio, Di Matteo and Zola, that was ages ago." Seriously, I don't know if that was a completely different generation or what the reason is, but you can hardly find a successful Italian player playing abroad nowadays. My theory is that the reason for this stands behind their general inability to speak or learn English, but that's already a completely different topic

i think it's more to do with the pace of the game and tempo of football not just in england, but even in spain the italians have struggled - along with a long lull in any real quality coming through in italy - for example, i remember that cassano lad coming onto the scene and being talked about like hewas going to be the new pele - If any remembers, he signed for Real Madrid!!! hard to believe, cause he went there was wank and kinda just disappeared to italy and nobody really made anything of it

I think his mental attitude may have counted against him somewhat.

Haven't read the other posts but torres is right, we are **** this season and are lacking in creativity and match-winners - everyone can see it.

If we dont spend, i wouldnt blame him at all for going.

thing is if we sell him we will have the money to buy, well at least some. But what player would want to come to a club who just sold there main attraction and not in the CL is the worst happens.

I still think he will stay, but the owners must spend this summer otherwise their "investment" will get harder and harder to shift.
