    Lucky Stevie

The Football Association will not be taking any action against Liverpool's Steven Gerrard following his clash with Portsmouth's Michael Brown.

Gerrard collided with Brown late on when it appeared he used his forearm, which connected with the Pompey man.

The Liverpool skipper could have been in danger of picking up a violent conduct charge from the FA, if referee Stuart Attwell reported that he had not seen the incident.

But Attwell did see the incident and spoke with Gerrard, so as such the FA cannot take any action against him.

It is the second time in little over a week when Gerrard's on-field actions have been scrutinised by the FA.

I disagree he was lucky. I see the decision as the right one. People in the past have been sent off for less. But I would veer to side of saying they were unlucky, as opposed to Stevie being unlucky.

not lucky really, they probably took into account Brown is a Grade A cunt, who deserved it.

I'm sure it was taken into account that it was Brown bundling into him, as opposed to Stevie rushing in on Brown and clonking him round the back of the head.

I think the replays look worse than reality.

I think Gerrard was looking to get the other side of brown and was going to use his arms to get away from any attempted obstruction. Brown veered into Gerrard and bang. I don't think it qualifies as violent conduct. And I have not held back from being critical of Gerrards lunges etc in the past. Just how I see it.

I agree. That or him blocking/pushing Brown off.

What? I'm not sure what you lot saw but Gerrard blatently ran at him and threw an elbow in his head. It wasn't an accident or just one of those things, he knew exactly what he was doing.

                    Yeah, well I disagree.

(I am not a member of team Gerrard)

He looked sheepish as hell on the bench too as he knew what he had done.

And the bitterness begins! The Mancs are fuuuuuuming!! They're deluded into thinking WE benefit from favourable decisions both from referees and the authorities. Are they for ****ing real or what?

I agree with this, apart from the elbow bit, i thought it was more of a forearm smash, but that's semantics. I think he's got lucky with this, as have we, but being as hypocritical as 99.9% of football fans, i wont complain.

On this occasion, i can see why they'd be ****ed off. If Gerrard had done what Ferdinand did to Fagin of Hull and got banned, and then Rio did that last night and not had any action taken against him, i know what i'd be thinking.

Ferdinand's was totally blatant and I think there were enough grey areas about last night's incident for it to pass without action.

Know what you're saying though ....but these occasions are few and far between.

As I said, think Gerrard, going full pelt, was planning on goung round the back of Brown, but Brown slowed righ down a veered towards Gerrard, hence the collision. Or possibly one of Gerrard's better disguised acts of violence.
