    Our reserves

Have won 12 in a row. Credit to Mcmohan. He has had them playing some excellent football combining flair with grit.

And that team has a number of players who could be squad members or at the very least sold for some decent sum in another three to four years.

The Finn netted the opening goal with a clinical header from a corner just past the hour mark before Pacheco sealed their progress two minutes from time.

It was a particularly sweet moment for Dalla Valle following his goalscoring heroics in last week's Liverpool Senior Cup semi-final victory over Tranmere Rovers.

Overall it was a hard-fought triumph for John McMahon's side, with skipper Jay Spearing a calming influence in midfield.

It means the Reds' hopes of a possible treble remain in sight, with the league title run-in and two cup finals to look forward to.

Despite a host of fixture postponements, McMahon's men have continued their fine form, winning 12 of their 13 matches since the opening day defeat at Blackburn Rovers.

Quite a bit of promise in there isn't there?

Dalla Valle just a kid still, but he doesn't half know where the back of the net is. If he progresses we could have a hell of a striker on our hands in a few years time.

I'd like to see Pacheco get a few more run-outs for the first team. Like when we're 3-0 up at home to Portsmouth

Great to see Duran back close to fitness.

Also agree with you on the promise shown by our youngsters. There are a couple of cracking players in our U 18 also - Andre Wisdom, Raheem Sterling, Tony Silva ( a winger from benfica) are supposed to be very very good

Was he in the squad then (I didn't notice) I though he was off with the Spain under 19s.

We've been here before though both Herrera (most players claiming he was the best coach they had ever worked with) and Ablett (won the reserve league) have had successes at that level. It remains to be seen if Dalla Valle is a Fowler/Owen or a Mellor. From his few appearances it doesn't look like the reserve level is developing Spearing very well. I hope he can get a loan somewhere for a few months.

It is good news about Duran.

Have seen hardly anything of Duran, is he any good?

Bruna is over-hyped as well imo.

I was surprised with his appointment when it happened...but 'Mcmohan' (who ?) looks to be a good judgemnt call at the moment...as do some of our young players.?

                              He's Steve McMahon's brother apparently.

In some ways I think that the fact he was picked up from such an unlikely source was a good sign in that he must have had to do something beyond the normal to get noticed as assistant at Shrewsbury Town. Sometimes I think that people with the talent for developing young players don't get enough credit and there is a tendency to see if they can make it as managers and that them not trying it is seen as a major failing (which I suspect is why Roeder, Wiggley et al. have gone down that route).
