"I spoke with SG before and received my usual pre match email and SMS from Rafa as we all do. We knew we had to go forward, to score and to win. We started well, with the penalty and tried to manage the game. I like to go forward, unfortunately i didnt score any goals this season, but the most important thing is the team, the last two performances were really good, and we have to keep going and keep the confidence."

But the thing was - as Nevin picked up - it was as if Lucas was given permission by SG to go forward. I'm sure it's a language thing, but curious nonetheless...

Great to see Lucas having the confidence to get forward and show a bit more adventure. I'm sure watching Aquilani's display from the bench the other night will have given him a bit of an incentive.

Things are much much better all of a sudden and crazily I've got a bit of belief for Sunday.

Actually , I don't think Lucas is guilty of not getting into the box. He's done it a few times now. It's people like Alan Greene, who get stuck in their ways, turn up to a match and moan, with bugger all pre-match prep.

There was a good article on Lucas a while back, saying that he's a pass and move player, and that the team would have to change to fit him in. Well, with Aquilani and Maxi playing well the other day, the others have seemed to have pulled their creative socks up.

I don't buy into the Ronaldo/Hoddle luxuary player ethos. You have to break a player like you do a horse or a dog, to do the things you demand, because you know what they do do well, is instinctive.
