    Cisse bears Benitez grudge

    Cisse bears Benitez grudge

By Patrick Haond - Created on 21 Oct 2006

Djibril Cisse has revealed he still holds a grudge against Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.

France international Cisse is currently on loan at Marseille, with a view to joining the club permanently next summer.

The striker is still unhappy that Benitez played him out of position and questions whether he will ever forgive the Spanish tactician.

"I keep a fantastic memory of England, even if I still hold a grudge on the coach," Cisse told L'Equipe Magazine.

"I have still not swallowed it. Maybe I will never swallow it. I am still very upset.

"Liverpool remains the place where I have suffered the most as a footballer, above all during the last season.

"I scored 19 goals and I never played! The coach and myself were not compatible.

"On a psychological level, it was very hard because I restrained myself a lot. Don't do or say anything. Frankly, I am proud of that.

"Apart from that, I loved everything at Liverpool - the players, the people, the fans, everything was great. I miss all that a little."

Cisse returned to training with Marseille earlier this week, as he continues his recovery from a broken leg suffered while playing for France against China in a pre-World Cup friendly.

I think it's fair to say, that while Rafa is manager, Cisse will not be coming back to Liverpool after these comments.

Djibs was treated very poorly by Rafa last season, I wish him the best of luck.

don't know if he was treated poorly, cause i dont know what whent on begind closed doors, maybe he didn't do what was asked of him, rafa only wants team players and maybe cisse wasn't one, maybe rafa was hones and told him he just didn't rate him or knew that he didn't fit his style of play...

i think under houliers longball tactics he would have scored a whole bunch of goals, it just didn't go well together, wish him the best of luck...

If there's anything I find as a bugbear it is this absolute drivel about Cisse being treated poorly by Rafa. I am sorry but he was NOT good enough for Liverpool and ultimately didn't play because his work ethic and footballing abilities were not good enough.

I liked his pep and his blatent love of the club and fans, but he was simply a clump of raw, pacey talent. The only times I saw him demonstrate anything like the kind of finishing we need from a striker were his goals against Everton and West ham, which were well taken. Other than that, I remember mostly being frustrated to a painful degree watching our most expensive signing fuming and moaning whilst not performing himself. Benitez did not treat him poorly, I think Cisse wasn't used to not being the star attraction in a team of players who were considerably more talented than him.

I just wanna know when we get some money for him. His performance at Anfield against Bolton last season showed me that he cannot cut it. Scoring goals against a bunch of mid table sides does not a great striker make. I've seen enough of Kuyt already to know he's far better.

                        Here here.

Power over placement pissed me off, and the shots from stupid angles.

As do i, i hope he fully recovers from his broken leg, and gets back scoring soon.

Some nice words from Cisse about Liverpool as a whole, but he obviously doesnt understand Rafa's methods so good luck to him. Wish him all the best in france.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
