    Rafa's Agent: He may Leave

Rafa Benitez's agent has denied he has had talks with Juventus over the Liverpool boss taking charge of the Italian giants.

Juve are looking to appoint a high-profile boss this summer to replace Alberto Zaccheroni, who took over in January until the end of the season.

The Serie A side had put former defender Ciro Ferrara in charge last summer but he was sacked after just eight months so the Juve board are looking for some stability.

Juve officials were reported to have had a meeting in Milan on Monday with Benitez's agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon.

    No meeting

And although Quilon, whose agency is based in Benitez's native Spain, insists he was not even in Italy, he hinted his client may consider leaving Liverpool in the summer.

"I haven't met with Juventus, I was here in Madrid," he told Calciomercato.it.

"I reaffirm that Benitez has a four-year deal with Liverpool so he remains there. But in the coming months I don't know what will happen."

Despite this denial, reports in the Italian press claim the Juve board is working hard to lure Benitez to Turin before the start of next season.

Don't care anymore. If he wants to leave he can go. He will never manage a club as great as LFC or have to love of the fans like he does here.

Personally i think he will stay.

Who cares? More important matters to hand at the moment.

For me, simply stating that he can't predict the future doesn't really mean that I'm necessarily expecting Rafa to be considering negotiating with other clubs at the end of the season.

I read it as...his agent says no he's not had contact with Juve, Rafa has a contract so basically he expects him to honour that contract, not knowing what will happen in the coming months must be a reference to either Rafa being sacked...which is one of the ways he could leave that his agent and him have no control over, or ownership change and them wanting a new manager, again out of Rafa and his agents hands, but failing those two occurrances, Rafa will stay.

Rafa's not a stupid man, he knows that our Clubs going forward (abit slow i admit) but, things are about to massivily improve in a big way. At the moment, i can't say any more as im forbidden to say anything that would jepodise anything but, the futures looking bright.

I must point out that, i've never been a insider or never claimed to be whatsoever but, all i can say at this time is keep your chins up, and if what i've been told (which i totally beleive is true), i'd say we are on the way up

Sources close to me have confirmed that the new owners are not looking to replace Rafa Benitez as they would then have to pay the package to the manager, which is stupid from their point of view as they are finally getting out.

However, it is true that Purslow and someone who is touted to be the chairman of Liverpool by May end (Broughton or someone else) are waiting for the World Cup to get over to sound out possible managerial vacancies and a new manager should be in the offing once the new owners take over.

Though, my source has confirmed that the owners do wish that Rafa takes up the Juve job (which is very very real). Rafa has been given till next weekend to decide about Juventus from the Turin club.

Lastly, there is a general feeling in Liverpool that we should return to our roots and get a British manager. (Hint hint)

Can't think of any top class Britsh manager, so that wouldn't be a positive for me. I like Hodgson, but cannot see him managing at very top level.

I'd rather write this season off and give Rafa proper backing if that's coming.
                        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

so you are implying we have new owners allready? just not been announced?

Cant see it myself to be honest.

Sorry, but your post appears a little bit confused. Just to confirm, you seem to be saying that you've heard it on good authority that the current owners (H&G) want rid of Rafa but aren't willing to sack him as they don't want to pay him off (I'm assuming the 'new' in your first sentence is a typo? 'New' owners wouldn't be getting out). Also you're saying that Purslow and Broughton want to replace Rafa too but are waiting until the world cup is over before sounding out alternative managers. And finally that they are likely to have a British manager in mind? Is that correct?

Thanks for sharing the info - all information posted in good faith is welcome, we all love a gossip and snippets like this usually fuel a decent debate.

It all sounds very implausible to me though:

                              a) Broughton is unlikely to have had a say in anything yet as he hasn't started work for us.

                              b) If replacing Rafa is on the cards there is no way that Purslow would wait until after the World Cup before sounding out alternatives, discrete contact would be being made as we speak through agents and go-betweens (as has probably already happened with Mourinho given the noises he's been making about a return to English football).

And c) if the last bit about a British manager is remotely true, why would we have to wait until after the world cup? There aren't any British managers managing at the world cup. We could sound out O'Neill right now.
