While I agree that calling him a cunt is way out of line, he has left himself open to such outbursts by writing what he did.Originally posted by 5europeancups View PostIts quite sad that you should express your feelings about a former great of Liverpool in such a way.
If you think he was right come out and say it.

To be honest its more difficult to find an ex-player who hasnt said something daft or outrageous rather than someone who hasBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I was actually thinking the same about former playersThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Hatchet Job No. 2
Real Madrid are welcome to Rafa Benitez - he's not even the best manager on Merseyside!

Rafa
You don’t have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don’t have to sell your body to the night
Rafa
You don’t have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don’t care if it’s wrong or if it’s right
Rafa...
With due deference to The Police, Rafa Benitez is bang to rights.
He’s being touted around with rather less dignity than a pole dancer in a backstreet dive.
He’s playing games with the punters, promising untold delights.
He’s named his price: £60million to stay at Liverpool.
That’s the market rate, apparently, for a self- regarding control freak.
We’re told Juventus will pay more. Real Madrid, too.
Manuel Garcia Quilon, Rafa’s Madrid-based agent, is usually conspicuous by his absence from the headlines.
Now, like a struggling soap star in survival mode, he’s everywhere. According to him, the Chinese are waiting in the wings. They’ll only hand out their fortune cookies if Benitez stays.
Rafa has the right to work where he wants, when he wants.
He makes the right noises without dispelling the suspicion that he is prepared to overlook what Liverpool Football Club means to its community.
Yes, he shared the emotions which coursed through the all-ticket congregation for the 21st anniversary service in honour of the Hillsborough 96.
But the Kop are wising up. A hard core might still revere him for the miracle of Istanbul. But the majority are beginning to realise the manager is not that different to the misfits, Hicks and Gillett. The owners from Hell want to cash in, to fund other problems.
Hicks Sports Group, the company which owns the Texas Rangers baseball team, defaulted on a $525million debt last year.
Creditors are threatening to push the franchise into bankruptcy, unless they get an additional $30m from a proposed sale to legendary pitcher Nolan Ryan and lawyer Chuck Greenberg.
Gillett has dumped the Montreal Canadiens. In his neck of the woods, that’s heresy on an unprecedented scale.
Look away from the bottom line and examine the facts. Benitez swears by them.
Liverpool’s win in the 2005 Champions League Final was on penalties. It was a wonderful, uplifting freak of human nature.
Liverpool’s only other trophy under Benitez, the FA Cup a year later, was also won in a shoot-out.
West Ham fans will go to their graves cursing the memory of extra-time earned purely by the strength of Steven Gerrard’s character.
Liverpool’s failure to finish fourth this season will be down to a dour, defensive, depressive culture.
The Europa League is inconsequential padding for Rafa’s CV.
He’s not even the best manager on Merseyside. Everton’s David Moyes has fewer resources, but greater substance.
His dressing room has resembled a field hospital and his board are as poor as church mice. But he’s not whinged. He’s been patient, pragmatic, and is looming in Rafa’s rear-view mirror.
The Spaniard’s strength is taking an established team to the next level.
But his transfer strategy is flawed. Who remembers Gabriel Paletta, Antonio Nunez, Mark González, or Josemi?
For every Fernando Torres there’s a Fernando Morientes, an Albert Riera, Andrea Dossena or a Robbie Keane.
He’s a poor man-manager, whose charm offensives tend to be reserved for set-piece media occasions.
His youth policy is expensive, unproductive.
Yet he does feel the love, occasionally. In a poll last week, 40 per cent of Real Madrid fans opted for him as their next manager.
There’s no accounting for taste.

Some of his articles are "off the wall" to say the leastBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

When I think back to MOTD years ago, I'm sure Lawrenson never used to be this bad?! He's clearly anti-Rafa for some reason.
If only he had a smidgeon of Hansens class

Lawrenson also dismissed the JFT96 chant vs Arsenal a few years ago too didn't he?!
Walked past him at Gatwick a couple of years back and he looked a right miserable git. Though it was 4am in the morning
