this guy is obviously going to say this because he was brought in by rafa and it backs up rafa's overall outlook that the club was in the **** and he is up against it.... thus making out that the job as lfc manger is so so so hard and we are making progress and will continue to if we stick with the man.....

the following FACTS i would think would go against this thinking:

    1. stephen warnock is better than insua. Rafa replaced a good solid left back with an inferior player.

    2. Guthrie would have been a solid squad player to have around. He was sent on loan to bolton, did well in that he was one of their better players, yet we still sold him on.... i find this strange - surely if he did well on his loan spell, then we should take him back to the squad for a season at least??? i hope we don't do the same with the kid that is at athletic bilbao at the moment - he has done very well there so he should get another chance....

    3. Some of the young players in the last couple of years have been brought in by rafa yet still have not made it. To be perfectly honest, i think pacheco would have had more game time at arsenal or manU by now. However, wasnt rafa instrumental in bringing anderson, hobbs, martin to the club.... then surely this critisism should be also shared by rafa??

personally, i do want rafa to get another season at least. Partially because he deserves it and i feel we have been very unlucky with injuries and partially because i genuinely don't think we could attract a mourinho or a hiddink to the role so would get a worse man than rafa....

however, i wish the management team would just shut the **** up and get on with their jobs. We are becoming a jokeshop like a club like Newcastle....do you ever see the backroom staff of clubs like Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal coming out an critisising their clubs....had a staff member under shanks or paisley done this, then their ****in ass wouldn't have hit the floor - the chairman would have booted them out the door without even waiting for an explanation - just ****in get on with your jobs that you are highly paid to do....

and another point, yes we might need a few players - mainly a striker to be honest but i genuinely think that if we had a squad of:

    reina, cavalieri, martin

carragher, skrtel, agger, warnock, arbeloa, hyypia, aurelio, finnan, ayala, kelly

gerrard, mascherano, alonso, lucas, kuyt, danny murphy, luis garcia, benayoun,

    torres, crouch, bellamy, pacheco

then we'd have been good enough to win the league this year and also more suited to coping without torres and gerrard if and when they were injured. Point i am making is that one of rafa's main ****ups has been changing too much every year. Riera cost the same as we got for bellamy - i mean what the **** is that about - can anyone honestly say that is an improvement?!? Hyypia left because he got a 2 year deal at leverkusen - we should have done more for him to stay - likewise arbeloa and even finnan is a solid defender to have in the squad... the 2 best teams in the country over the last 5 years are chelsea and united - they have been the best because they have had the most continuity - they have slightly tweaked their squads every season - whereas we have chopped and changed ours each summer...... if that's not the managers fault, then who's to blame??/

Show me a manager that hasn't done all the above while at a big club.

Look at the mistakes Wenger has made, he gets similar stick and is accused of similar things by many Arse fans.

He succeded in the early years when he had an inside line to the best youngsters in French football, since then he's been no better than Rafa imo.

Just to address some of your points:

It's easy to say that but it really wouldn't have been possible to have that squad, we let Warnock go because i) he wanted first team football and ii) we had better options at the time (Riise). Given his development is largely due to first team football in at Blackburn and Villa in the last few years he probably wouldn't have devbeloped into the player he is now had he stayed, because this is the first season we haven't had a better option.

Arbeloa, Alonso, Crouch, Garcia, and Hyypia wanted to leave. For varying reasons. Bellamy had to be sold to Bring Torres in, as did Garcia. Bellamy by the way was poor for us and was rightly sold. The fact he's gone on to have a good season this year doesn't make selling him a bad decision and it doesn't necessarily mean that that he'd have played as well were he still here, also we made a profit on him. Riera had a good season last year so last year I would have said yes Riera is better than Bellamy, but as I said before you can't just assume Bellamy would have had a great season were he playing here now.

Murphy and Finnan are too old to be effective for us we sold them at the right time IMO.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Or maybe Borrell is his own man, a well respected coach who has worked at probably the best football academy in the world and is saying it like it is. It's not like the club has been well run these last couple of decades, his comments easily believable.
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon
