    Ayala ?

Unfortunately I don't get to see as many games as I'd like due to having to let the pay TV thing go

So I haven't seen much of Ayala as yet. I was interested to see that a few on here rated his performance on Sunday.

So if he was to kick on and press for a starting spot next year who would you liken him to and who is he likely to replace? Does he like to bring the ball out of defence ala Daniel Agger or is he inclined to just get it out of there ala JC ? Is he good in the air ala the greek or just a monster ala Skittles?

I know I've kinda generalised the 4 defenders and have only chosen one characteristic of their game, that's not to devalue them just to get an idea of what Ayala brings to the team.

To me he is more like Agger than any of Skertl and Carra. I dont think he will be ready as a regular first team choice yet. He looks like he has a decent passing game and reads the game well for his age.

So against Chelsea on Sunday, did he try to play it out from the back or just put his foot through the ball and get it out of there? Chelsea like to apply pressure and will chase down every loose ball is why I ask.

      PS My apologies, welcome mate

I remember a couple of good passes out of defence, but he is not i Agger class yet. Next match is not on TV here in Norway, so I guess we have to wait for next season to see if i remember it right.

He's very calm and does what he has to do well. He didnt seem too phased by Drogba either which was good.

I thought he did quite well. Made a couple of excellent tackles IIRC and did not look out of place alongside Carra.

Which game did you watch? He came on for Carra.

                I meant alongside Soto.

Done well the other day. After not much game time he has the potential to be more like Agger than anyone else. Didnt rate him too much last year but fair play to the lad he has not done much wrong and hasnt seemed fazed when given the chance.

I reckon that Dani Ayala is the player that Paul Tomkins mentioned when he said that Rafa had told him to look out for a certain player...

Very interesting. Would be nice to have 2 CB's capable of bringing the ball out from the back. Keeps the opposition guessing

I hope he proves to be as good as Dan

                        I thought he meant Pacheco

Hopefully Ayala will start on Sunday then I would like to see him join someone like West Brom next season on loan as it's too early to promote him to 3rd/4th choice centre back
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Could see San Jose get a few games next season after doing well at Bilbao this season, really benefitted from some experience.

Would definitely play Ayala on sunday, against a team like Hull who *touch wood* wont pose a significant threat but could still ask a question or two at times. Espcially now that they have been relegated i cant see them going all out. Would play Ayala, Pacheco and would have played Kelly but he's still injured iirc.

Am i right in thinking we haven't conceded a goal when Ayala has been on the pitch? He played the 90mins against Stoke where we won 4-0, the 90mins against Burnley and we won 4-0 and the majority of the 2nd half against Chelsea (we didn't concede when he was on.)

                              Am I missing any?
