just goes to show how this summer is the clubs make or break time. if we start the new season with a average squad and no torres, stevie and mascher then we'll be midtable for the foreseeable future as even with new owners and massive cash injection we'll only be playing catchup.

The reality now is that you have chavs, scum and arse joined by man city and spurs with villa on the edge of champions league spots. all of them have either a larger stadium built or in the process of being built. Have at present larger budgets(brum may have more of a budget then us!)

So it comes back to getting rid of the yanks and heavily investing in the team.....easy

I'd imagine we'll put a fairly strong team out with two or three kids in the starting lineup, and more on the bench to come on if things are going well. In a similar manner to the CL qualifiers of 05-06.

We'll still regard qualification as important so I'd expect the team to mostly be made up of players who won't be at the world cup, or those those country had early exits.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The new season will begin in July for the Reds as they have to negotiate a Europa League qualifier after finishing seventh in the Premiership. This could have been avoided if they'd beaten a relegated Hull side who were playing a bunch of kids yesterday but yet another non-existant attacking 'performance' takes Liverpool into a qualifier.

"We were working hard and had the pre-season more or less sorted. But now we have to analyse the schedule and see if we can organise the fixtures properly," said Rafael Benitez.

"It was the same last year, we had too many players away with the Confederations Cup. The teams are suffering with these tournaments, but it's not easy, we will try to manage."

          Er?
Just saw this great Huddersfield manager and his brilliant style of attacking football. Biggest load of sh*t ever, didn't deserve to go to Wembley. How the f*ck did they get this far?

Ecclestone needs to go on loan to a club that actually knows a football is "round" and not "oval". Stay out of league one and below, there's no education to be had there.

Not convinced by that at all. I've seen some really good games of a pretty decent quality from League One this year. There are a variety of styles and I would think getting first team experience against that, and for a young player simply against men is potentially a huge benefit. I'm not sure season long loans are a good idea as managers and styles change too often.

I've not seen much of Huddersfield so I will accept your critique of their style of play.

you'd be surprised how many other big name clubs are in the same boat as liverpool.

for what its worth I think Liverpool should place all focus on concentration on domestic matters next year and not let the europa cup distract although I appreciate as we are now in this tournament we are immediately expected to win it.

The only reason we qualified for this tournament it should be stated, is that the Skates messed up financially. We are lucky to be in Europe.

I genuinely hope we get knocked out early. Competition is a waste of time and I hate Sunday/Monday league games.
