Watched it in my local which is generally populated by Mancs, but we took it over that night. A bunch of Mancs turned up in Milan shirts and all through the first half they were really giving it mouth.
I switched from beer to JD at half time, figured this may be a long one. But I still had faith. After those 6 second half minutes the Mancs had gone and it was all us. The penalties nearly destroyed my mate who I was with, but I remembered watching the all Italian final a few years before on TV and said to my mate "Italians can't do penalties, we'll win this" the rest is history.
We've got a TNT depot where I live so there's loads of euro drivers who come through. One of them was in our pub, a Dutch guy who said he'd been to some of the biggest games in Holland and seen nothing like this, he was getting emotional.
Best night ever!

I watched it at home with my kids and some German mates. At half-time my youngest was crying, so I said to him that Liverpool never give up and we will win the second half (I didnt actually believe it myself) I was outside having a fag for the first 2 goals, they banged on the window and shouted "Gerrard has scored" I ignored them of course, even more so when 2 minutes later, Smicer of all people had scored. Now I knew they were just winding me up.
After the final whistle we went to a club on 3 levels, wearing our home tops, as we walked in the DJ took off his top to reveal his LFC home shirt and straight away put on YNWA, the whole club sang the song and I lived off freebies for the rest of the night. Outstanding night. Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

Best night of my life so far as a fan!...Remember just sitting there at halftime, 3 ****ing 0 down...what was I thinking?...hmmm...bring on hamann to sort that cunt Kaka, just to keep him quiet & then we see if we can nick a goal! Said it to my mate & others, they were alrerady resigned to losing 6-0!
2nd half came about, Hamann comes on...the rest is history! Still feel tingles up my back nowadays recalling that night...don't think many people would have felt those extreme emotions within that hour! the agony & the ecstasy...!!
Didn't wanna fall asleep ever again as didn't want to lose that feeling ever again...but it came back with the birth of my little one!Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Ahh, one of the best nights of my life. The missus thinks the same and we joke (?!) that it was better than our wedding.
We arrived at our local a bit before kickoff and it was filling up nicely. By the time the game kicked off the place was heaving, full of Liverpool fans and a random scattering of neutrals.
As the teams walked out I just felt it was our night, knew it had to be. The next 45 minutes didn't exactly back that up!
Milan's first came and no one could believe it. I remember fans howling for a penalty one minute and then a crushing silence as Milan went on to make it 2-0 the next. 3-0 down at half time came and there was a mix of reactions from hopefully we can get 1 to make it respectable, to, if they can score 3 in 45 so can we.
Some people left, one guy went to place a bet on us winning. My missus just said that it wasn't right, this wasn't what was meant to happen.
In all honesty if you'd offered me a scoreline that didn't embarrass us at full time I might have taken it because Milan had been imperious in the first half.
And the the second 45. And 6 minutes of madness. The first went in and the pub went mad. The second - the ball came to Smicer and I remember thinking don't shoot, don't waste it. Apparently he knew better. The pub again went crazy, there was a belief again, talks of the greatest comeback ever.
The penalty, that was a high, low, high moment. Penalty given, huge cheers. Penalty saved, gasps and disbelief. Follow up slammed in. Place explodes.
The rest of the match I was so nervous and when Dudek somehow kept the ball out of the net twice a spurs fan next to me and just said it's your night.
And then penalties, held breath followed by cheers and after the final penalty everyone was yelling and jumping up and down and singing. Watching the trophy being lifted brought out another huge cheer and more singing.
It was a glorious night and really does rank as one of the best of my life, the excruciating lows and the unbelievable highs that followed, I was grinning like a loon for hours and buzzing about it for days.

I was there.
I was way too drunk.
I don't remember getting off the plane.
I do remember singing to the coach and the little lads selling Effes at the roadside for 1 euro a tin.
I remember the game, just.
I, like everyone else, fell forward in the stand and grazed my shins.
I'll never forget that ****ing tent outside the airport or how quiet it was on our coach on the way back to the airport. Queueing to buy tokens to exhange for beer and working out it was 4 euros a tin, indefinite waiting for flights, and a 60k journey to the airport. I didn't particularly care.
£750 for the ticket on the charter flight, 120 Euros face value for the ticket and yet I've never felt so happy to be ripped off.

I remember a big rumour going through the crowd that Kelly Dalglish was sitting nearby in a yellow away top
I remember we got there after the fanzone had finished, we only just made it to KO
I remember how dark the stadium was, it couldn't have been finished surely?
I remember singing YNWA at half time and just knowing damn well that they could hear us in the changing rooms (and it's just bought a shiver down my spine again)

The best night I have had as a Liverpool fan!!
The match, the atmosphere the excitment, the build up - everything was just perfect.
Never going to forget the roar that went through the pub that night, and the celebration with ~100 fans going crazy, drinking beer, hugging strangers and all the accessories.
what a night, will always remember and be thankfull to Rafa and the players for that night!

Nicky Allt is the guy who wrote One Night In Istanbul was just on the radio saying Rafa, Sammy Lee and Phil Thompson will be there tonight along with some other famous faces from the Reds.Originally posted by SERVO1 View PostI am out in Liverpool to watch 'One Night In Istanbul' at the Empire theatre and it is promised that there will be a carnival atmosphere and some surprises with it being the 5th anniversary.
I am looking forward to it immensely. A friend of mine went to the opening night show and they brought Fowler on stage. Would be nice if Rafa showed his face tonight.
I will never for as long as i live forget that match and the emotions i went through. I cried at the end with joy, something my wife still has a go at me for as i never cried when we got engaged, married or when either of our two daughters were born but this was something special and unexpected.
