I can understand the frustration of some fans and must admit that some pretty sinister thoughts have entered my head during the last twelve months or so. Surely the best way to protest against the current owners would be to abstain, to choose a game and just stay away? I'm not sure whether a high profile game against say Everton or Man Utd would be most worthwhile or a game against European opposition? I believe that positive action can be more effective using abstinence. Imagine a scenario whereby every fan decided to abstain from a home game, the publicity would be phenomenal and the owners would be hit where it hurts. It's just an idea I thought would be worth exploring, rather than trying to frighten small children or anything.

I agree with the sentiment. But it will frankly never happen/work for a number of reasons
It pains me to say it but half the people in the stadium dont even come close to having the same passion and commitment to the club as the 'majority' of true fans do .... Its just a day out with the family, with the opportunity to get your camera phone out everytime there's a corner/free kick and talk to the person next to you about how 'Marcus Babbel' is going to be the next Henry.
If all season ticket holders dont turn up why are the yank cunts arsed.... They've already got the cash in.
The last thing our run down squad needs at the moment is an empty stadium.“…Slip like Freudian, your first and last step to playing yourself like accordion.”

a boycott will never happen. People pay too much for season tickets to just not use them and we have far too many "fans" their who are not fans, simply tourists looking for a celebrity to photograph. There will always be people willing to pay to go to Anfield, whatever the situation.'If Everton were playing at the bottom of the garden, I'd pull the curtains.' Shankly

I think it says something that it hasn't been tried already. Squaddie makes some good points above that are pretty hard to get away from.
I'd imagine in-stadium protests have always been considered easier to get unity behind.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

With both clubs in a dire financial situation, this would be a game that would certainly make people sit up.Originally posted by TheElephantMan View PostSurely the best way to protest against the current owners would be to abstain, to choose a game and just stay away? Not sure if you'd get a mass boycott though, although I do think a lot of fans have changed their stance since the same time last season.

I agree. Would it be too much to ask season ticket holders to forsake one game to make a point? Imagine the publicity it would generate if Anfield was empty for one of the biggest PL matches of the season.Originally posted by Shanks View PostWith both clubs in a dire financial situation, this would be a game that would certainly make people sit up.

A couple of lads near us in the kop were threatened with ejection from the ground when they turned up with Anti-H+G flags earlier in the season. Its difficult to be effective when there are "enemy-within" unfortunately. In my wildest dreams i'd love to see all the stewards come out with balaclavas on and "H+G OUT" on their luminous jackets

Don't you think that the team would applaud any action which highlighted the **** that's going on at the moment?Originally posted by Paul12 View PostI could never boycott a game...I would not wish to do anything that might affect the team's performance....but I have not bought any merchandise since it became clear what our owners were like.
