I noticed on lfclive that kuntwar has already taken issue with this story on his ****e, from his title no doubt based (I refuse to give him hits) on the lack of any real quotes or evidence to confirm this supposed "budget" in the specific article..... however our negative net-spend in the last 4 windows, complete mess off the pitch, and what does seem to be legitimate problems we're having agreeing a ~£2.5m fee for this lad all give it quite a lot of credibility to me.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostNormally you disregard anything written in that pile of ****e but...... wouldn't be too shocked this time around if thats the "substantial funds" rafa's got for the summer!
Even if it is based on nothing obviously substantial it looks to me like by far the most accurate guestimate of our budget I've seen in the media so far.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

its a no brainer
Apparently some people on here dont think it was.
If the owners give rafa the assurance that whatever he brings in he can re-invest in the team then you could stomach losing gerrard, benayoun, riera and babel because the £50m pkus that it would raise would be reinvested into the team.
But if its a case of sell those and then spend the princely sum of £5m to replace them all then I can see rafa doing his wierd chicken dance on purslow's head.Last edited by el matador; 29-05-10, 10:53 AM.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

chris bascombe has said today that rafa will be given a £15m budget plus whatever he sells.
given that we're not in the CL next season its not bad. if we can sell £25 - £30m worth of players plus the reported £15m then its a £45m kitty.
and thats with keeping the spine of reina carra agger mascher gerrard. aquilani and torres.
add johnson, maxi that leaves a decent budget for a left back and a left winger, plus jovanovic on a freebie, look to get joe cole in on another free and and it would leave you with enough for a decent striker and another central defender plus a couple of decent squad players.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]
