I assume that sacking Rafa is the "substantial investment in the squad" that Hicks was talking about.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI still dont get why they'd be arsed sacking him if they're looking to sell the club.
Oh - wait a minute. The 'selling the club' thing was bollocks and these two cunts are here for the long haul.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

There's two trains of thought for me.Originally posted by Armchairkopite View PostThe only thing that may come of this is that new owners are on the horizon.
Either there are new owners who insisted on Rafa being sacked before they come in.
Or Hicks has no intention of selling the club, and the 'announcement' he made about wanting to sell, was just bollocks to appease RBS and get a loan extension.
My view? Well put it this way, i dont think anyone other than the current owners/regime have made this decision.

I reckon it's got nothing to do with the owners. Don't even think they're executive now.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThere's two trains of thought for me.

Purslow's running it on their behalf.Originally posted by Tatterdemalion View PostI reckon it's got nothing to do with the owners. Don't even think they're executive now.

If he's chosen to sack Benitez, he has to get authority from the owners - they're the ones who'd have to pay the severence package, so Purslow wont have just been able to do it off his own back.

Purslow was said to be having 'excellent relations' with Rafa not so long ago. He even went as far as guaranteeing he would still be manager at the end of last season, so it makes no sense at all.
