I think they've just had enough of Rafa fighting his corner. They want a nodding dog, a yes man who'll just be happy with the prestige of being Liverpool manager and just quietly do as well as he can in the circumstances, rather than a bloke who cares about the club so much he's prepared to fight tooth and nail, to get himself into all sorts of scraps, to ensure we're being run the right way, in a way that makes us competitive.

There is another issue here - either Gerrard and Torres have been campaigning against the manager or CP etc. have leaked the idea that they have been to the press. In the latter case you can't imagine they would be overwhelmingly pleased by how things have come out.

Ballague and the Guardian have consistently said that the futures of Torres and Gerrard weren't linked to that of Rafa - but to whether we have transfer funds. The fact Rafa has been sacked for wanting transfer funds could imply that we will be looking at losing both

After Rafa subbed Torres in the league with Ngog coming on when we needed a win both Gerrard and Torres reacted with disbelief, I think both of them were becoming too frustrated with Rafa's decisions. I love Rafa but to be fair Rafa has managed to alienate many players like Xabi, Riera and Benni to name but few.

I'm a bit torn on the Rafa staying or leaving issue but I think the handling of the matter by the owner is appalling and Rafa deserves anything but this treatment.

In fact the nature of the sacking leads me to think they are having to force him out because he is fighting for the good of the club not for himself. He could leave and take a good job in Italy or even Spain soon, with more backing and an easier ride.

Talksport's Graham Beecroft just reporting that King Kenny and Ian Rush to take over until new investment is found. This will be in a caretaker role and the reason being that new investors will want their own man as manager so caretaker role until further notice. This will also ensure that Gerrard stays.
