This is devastating news for me; while I can get behind a change, I can't get behind a change done this way with no plan in place and no support coming to make the club better. This is cutting off our nose to spite our face and it makes no sense. That said, if he has lost the players, then he should go. If they felt half as frustrated as I did at some of his man management and his tactics against third tier squads on the road, then I get it. If they were as devastated by the nonsensical pursuit of Gareth Barry and the sale of Alonso as I was, then I get it.

Either way, it seems a lot of people associated with the club are acting on emotion and not on business sense; If Rafa goes, I want a plan in place for improving the club. Without a clear path to improvement, this is utterly stupid.

If I was Rafa and I was reading this information in the press and it was leaked by the club, especially the "lost the dressing room" story, my heels would be dug in a mile deep and I would not walk out the door for less than what my contract demands. No way should he allow himself to be bullied out the door for less than 20% of what is due him. If I were advising him, I would be sure to have him show up for work every day, whistling a happy tune because he has all the cards now; the negotiations have been sabotaged by the club leaking to the press and there is absolutely no reason for him to resign. Pride is for suckers; the £13 million pound difference between the contract and the club's offer is all he needs to talk about. The impact of that money on the club is no longer his problem... I hope he digs in and bleeds Hicks and Broughton for every penny he is due. I know I would. If it's really this way, if it's really just business, then pay me and **** off. No non-disclosure, nothing; fire me, pay me and **** you.

This is really a **** day that ego, emotion and lies have led us to this.

if the yanks had gone Rafa would have been fine .Every year hicks said or did something stupid that messed moral or derailed the transfer plans . Last season the alonso money was promised to rafa , who had lined up aguero - last minute hicks tells him that it is debt money -

Every year h/g undemined rafa someway.

If rafa goes then the yanks have to go to .

Personally I would have loved to have seen rafa as a director of football - overseeinf the acadamies (he just bought the barca guy in ffs), and other stuff. Have a man manager / motivator for the first team .

      King kenny would be good.

This cloud must have a silver lining , unfortunately it will only be when YANKS GO HOME.

Didn't he just sign on to manage the Turkish national team and turn down Inter?

              I'm happy tbh.

I would rather have the two Yanks gone over anything else, but Rafa leaving is the right choice. With the players he had at his disposal he should not be fininshing any lower than 4th.

Man show me a manager who could manage a team through that **** storm and I would be very surprised .. owners first coming out public-ally against you, when you popularity is at an all time high, then they come out publically against them selves , then one is speaking to another ****e manager to take you job, they are in it for the long haul, they are getting out of sports all together .. they are building a stadium, they are not, they have money they dont, they are backing the ****ing manager they are offering him a severance package ... A FCUKING Shambles is what it was and is ... We are ****ed .. no manager worth having will join this club with those two ****s at the wheel

this is very interesting from a timimg point of view.

Why would Liverpool decide that they should get rid of Rafa now?

I wonder if things are starting to happen behind the scenes?
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

What like new owners not wanting Rafa ?

Apparently a few top players have fallen out with him. Gerrard was/is on the verge of signing for Real. They have acted fast to try keep these top players (Torres, Gerrard and Masch). It was the only solution.
I'm upset that he is off, but it is understandable IF that was the situation!

Former Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink has ruled himself out of the running to be Inter Milan's next coach, after his agent claimed he was the club's number one choice.
                          Full story: the Independent

I'd welcome Guus with open arms

I am purely speculating but yes exactly.

It seems strange that in the midst of a search for new ownership that is predicted to happen with three months or so(according to Broughton) that any organisation would think to change the management. Its doesnt make sense.

this is why I beleive that perhaps something is stirring on the ownership front.

It sounds more than feasable. I just hope we get Guus Hiddink. I really rate the guy and would love him to be our No1
