I wonder if anyone's noticed this flag-burning in the American Government or it's various agencies? They're normally Very quickly onto such things over there no? Anyway, word has it that Hicks has a LOT of contracts tied up in and work provided by the Bush Administration - Some of these have undoubtedly carried on into it's successors. This is the Obama Administration don't forget - An Administration that recently restated PUBLICLY the 'Special Relationship' with Great Britain? I'm sorry that the flag burning upset you and other Americans Dark Star but IF used correctly it Could be one more lever to removing your Despised fellow countryme....Sorry I Won't dignify those creatures by calling them men - Your fellow nationals from Anfield. Wouldn't Hicks end up Very embarrased if he had people in the US in national mainstream Media/local radio/newspapers/magazines - that sort of thing questioning just Why fans of one of his 'Sports Franchises' are acting like this? That's not to mention his ultimate bosses in the White House asking just WHY such a close ally of the States has their people Burning the US flag on their streets in Full View of the media? I doubt the US Army OR FBI/CIA would like it either as some of their members are notoriously nationalist and proud of the US flag; In fact, quite a few people in high places in the US may be VERY angry at dear Tom and may not have taken kindly at ALL to his conduct in provoking us to THAT. What those fans did don't forget is the sort of thing that can very quickly turn into International Incidents - Maybe someone like yourself Darkstar or a few of our supporters from US LFC fans groups should ask the question in the right (Public/Journalistic/media) places in the US - Perhaps even at the HIGHEST levels if possible?

Questions like ''Just WHY after recently restating the special relationship and strengthening the US/UK Alliance are English men and women BURNING the US flag on their streets in full view of the media and WHAT can be done to prevent that in future/help sort out what caused it in the first place?'' If done correctly, I think That could have Mr Hicks facing some VERY uncomfortable and embarrassing questions from people he REALLY doesn't want to annoy. Who knows? Maybe as punishment for causing the US and their flag such embarrassment, Some of the 'Right People' will have a 'quiet word' in his ear? A word that will ahem 'Persuade' him to end the whole ownership saga at Anfield Very quickly by apologising to us, accepting whatever offer is best for the club and then disappearing back to the States and NEVER venturing near Liverpool again? Maybe some 'Left of Field' thinking like this is Exactly what we need to get rid of the dead weight from Texas and his Penfold alike sidekick. I know it's a long shot but then so was Big Ears in '05 at Half Time and how did That little Adventure end? - It COULD happen, you Never know..........

NB Liverpooltj - IF Rafa's successor isn't in his class as a manager then maybe they've Cost, not saved themselves millions in future CL revenue as they'll undoubtedly be banking on a swift return to the CL and I doubt they'll get it Without investing or selling up most of their shares. So either they've sped up their own inevitable departures as they'll Have To invest or leave to find funds for the new man or they'll sit here and realise just How much they've cost themselves in possible European Revenue Next season when Rafa's successor scrapes us in at 8th and is lucky to get That position whilst with No European football at Anfield they watch their former boss crush ALL comers and win the CL easily at his new club in Spain/Italy/Germany (delete as appropriate). Either way You can rest assured though, the one thing the Twin Diseases Haven't done through this piece of skullduggery is Save themselves money - quite the opposite in fact I'd say...........

Unfortunately, we here across the pond are in the middle of a public upheaval stirred by wealthy businessmen, called ironically the "Tea Party." I want G&H gone as much as everyone here, and every supporter across the world. That's why I feel hitting them in their wallet is the best option. I haven't bought any LFC merchandise in years. Burning the flag, or any flag, just brings about negatives unto those who are doing it. Remember what we all thought watching Iranians burning and stomping both the stars & stripes and the union jack. We thought of them as fanatics over here, and it negated any points that they had.

Holy ****, I don't know where to begin with this one.

First off, I'm a lurker/reader who doesn't post much but I had to reply to this garbage.

Do you honestly think, with hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil oozing into the Gulf of Mexico, an economy in the ****ter, and idiot "terrorists" parking car bombs in Times Square that the US government is going to insert itself into the operations of an English Football club?

George Bush hasn't been in office for over 2 years - and since you clearly know nothing about how US government operates, the Obama administration goes to GREAT lengths to distance themselves from the Bush administration and all that it stands for - for obvious reasons.

I'm no H&G fan - they have ruined the club I love and I look forward to the end of their influence on LFC. I have refrained from posting in fear of being labeled as a "Yank" but as the situation continues to deteriorate, I feel the need to stand up for my fellow "Yanks" who aren't complete assholes like H&G.

As for burning the American flag - sure, you have the right to do it. But why on earth would you want to? Are you familiar with the company that you are sharing by doing so?

I think a little more respect is deserved for the many men who have died serving under that flag.

If anything, you should be burning the flag of Texas.

You shouldn't feel like that, the vast majority of people on here recognise the difference between the American fans (or Americans in general) and Hicks & Gillett. This isn't an anti-American protest it's and anti Hicks and Gillett protest, although some of the wording of slogans etc has been carelessly worded to say the least (as has been discussed earlier in this thread), as for the burning of the flag alot of here people agree it was out of order.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

whoever started burning flags needs to go f**k off and support someone else in my opinion! i do not want myself or my club associated with acts like that.

it makes our supporters look no better than the idiots that march through the streets in the middle east burning flags... what next? someone going to strap a bomb to their chest?

disgusting! yes G&H are ******s and they have put our club in a big mess but lets just keep things in perspective here!

Agree mate. My grandfather and uncle were both in Vietnam and i have had family who served in Iraq for the US Navy. Don't let the action of 1 ****ing idiot make you think we all feel the same. I am from US decent and am proud of it.

Anyway the issue of the flag burning is some what getting in the way of the issue of the two cunts ruining our great club.

apologies for taking a while to get back .... i've been away on a mini break to Majorca so its first chance i've had to log on ...what a time to go away for a 3 day vacation !

right ... SOS did not mobilise the Demo .... that was done between the various LFC forums just like the recent websites alliance as i understand it

my own personal take on the sad events which have transpired are that tensions would have been running very highly at Anfield on Thursday night ,

i've been present on nearly all the protests and lets not get to far away from the one thing that's uniting us at the moment ... we are being shafted by all levels of senior management here

the flag thing i can see here is contensious and will be addressed at the mass meeting next week, and if members were involved because ... and i'll stress this for any prospective members or for anyone still on the fence ... this wasn't official Union action though there may have have been committee and members there

                        hope that's fairly clear

It's pretty bad over here. I have been unemployed since last October. As, I stated earlier, it just makes all LFC supporters look like complete morons. DCred, where in the metro are you located?
