One Man Team?

To be completely honest, we've been a one-man-team for a long time now and maybe this is what Benitez is trying to move away from. However, Our best player should still be played in his best position. You could argue that the reason Gerrard has been way below par is because of all the changing around. Stick him back in the middle and try naming an unchanged side for a few games and I'd bet money on a big improvement.

A "one man team" might be what we need right now to kick start the season, but that isn't going to happen if the man in question is pissed off with having to play out of position more often than not.

We were a no man team on sunday, therfore we need to pick our best 11 and stick with it allowing those playing to develop an understanding and to promote competition to win a place in the starting 11 as well as keeping you place.

The team in my view should be:

Pepe
Finnan Carragher Agger Riise
Garcia Gerrard Alonso Gonzalez
Kuyt Bellamy

Carragher should be made captain.

Bring crouch on for the last 20 minutes if needed and only play Mo Mo away.

Don't deviate from 4 4 2.

Work on set pieces both defending and attacking them.

Don't let Stevie take the corners, and use Alonso on set pieces more often.

The Dude meeds arun out in the teaam, the carling cup should be used for this and to blood paletta and other youngster in the first team.

Ensure a consistent style through the academy and reserves so that it is easier to step up into the first team's style of play.

Alonso
Carra
Riise

Kuyt and Agger may do it, but need to settle in.

The only problem is they aren't all playing well at the moment

Our best 11 would not have Garcia (Inconsistant) or Speedy (Unproven) in it. Both were bloody awful yesterday. Garcia only merits a place on the bench at best and should be sold in January. Just because he has scored the odd important goal for us does not mean he warrants a place in the team. Plus where is Alonso. Form is temporary and class is permanent therefore he will always be in our starting 11 as he is one of the few real world class players we have.

I actually thought in a terrible performance yesterday Garcia was one of the few who at least kept going all match and didn't completely give up. He was up there with Finnan (who did sod all but didn't **** anything up) as my joint least horrible performing man of the match.

Thought Speedy produced some great corners of recent.

Think Stevie constantly taking corners adds to the debate that Stevie wants to do everything himself even though it doesn't help the team
