The difference between last season and this ... crouch

Plain and simple, everytime crouch plays we look a better team. im sure kuit is a good player but he doesnt hold the ball up. yesterday reminded me of baros trying to retain the ball. Man U knew he wasnt going to win his fair share, pushed up, and the rest is history.

It is so obvious with how we were playing pre crouch and how we are playing now. At home maybe he isnt as important but he has to play away...

Kuyt's hold up play and retention of the ball has been nothing short of excellent for us. Better than Crouchy's IMO.

Do agree Crouch should be starting games though.

I dont thiink i can remember kuit winning anything yesterday. and he kept going wide leaving no one in the middle. I think he will be good but not up on his own. as soon as crouch came on the ball kept sticking.

crouch could be the key into getting more out of kuit

I think a cohesive midfield is the key to getting the most out of any forwards. The difference between this season and last is simply that we no longer seem able to retain possession for any period of time and we defend like none of our defenders have ever met each other before.

Yesterday we managed to add a lack of caring to this sublime formula to produce a truly woeful performance. I think the failings of the team seem to be more about the failings of the unit rather than any idividual players. Not quite sure what the root cause is but Rafa needs to change something and soon.

Well Kuyt on his own against a back four is hardly going to be easy for the lad. Chasing aimless long balls into the corner flags and having nobody even remotely close to flick the ball on to made his thankless task nigh on impossible yesterday. Can't criticise him for other people not running in behind when he had the ball out wide, that's what the midfielders should be doing when your playing 4-5-1 but we had **** all midfield runners yesterday. Anybody played up on their own needs support from midfield to arrive fast, to start making their runs BEFORE he even wins the ball. Too much of a gap between him and the midfield meant it was ****, christ I'm getting really angry again just being on this forum **** that ****ing game and **** the ****ign team for being so ****ing **** ****ing bollocks to it effortless ****houses

Edit: I agree, Crouchy and Kuyt should be given a chance together

it will get better tho i firmly believe it. if we can sneak a win at arsenal then our results are pretty much the same as last year in terms of points for away games.

what we need is a few games when we win easily and start knocking a few in. our stickers need to go on some goal scoring runs and gerreard needs to find his shooting boots

                He has to start.

                He's scoring goals FFS.

Plus he does a great job for the team.

He gives us a great outlet ball if we're under pressure. He was a vital player for us last year.

Kuyt and Crouch might not be the ideal combination, but it's the best we've got right now.

They both work hard, and right now we need to be solid and defend from the front. These 2 will do that.

Kuyt was playing up there on his own and Ferdinand had to easy and cleaned up anything that came near him.

More than that, Crouch has been scoring goals for fun at Old Trafford. I was disappointed yesterday.
