I remember back in 2007 I think - it was just after Carra' made himself unavailable for England at a time when he was THE best English Centre-Half bar none (remember how he shackled Barcelona back then? TWICE) because he'd been f**ked around FAR to much by Steve Mclaren put at right-back, left-back (and holding midfield by Eriksson before HIM) and then? When a vacancy at Centre Back FINALLY came due to Terry's injury he was left out of the centre in favour of King or Woodgate (I forget which). Anyway he told Mclaren to get stuffed in not so many words and guess WHICH station (and presenter actually - then as now it was that ginger haired prat Adrian Durham) IMMEDIATELY started slagging him off BIG time and calling him Live/on-air a bottler amongst other things?

Either way, Carra' HEARD all this and phoned in Furiously to defend himself - you could HEAR his anger on air and of course Talksport netted Fantastic ratings from it. So with him being probably THE easiest of All the England players to approach and the recent debacle being so fresh in the memory and of course with all that 'bottler' stuff in 2007 and the way their ratings Rocketed DUE to Carra'? It wasn't TO hard to figure out just WHO Talksport would go to for an 'exclusive' was it? ESPecially as like the rest of the England players branded 'failures', Carra' will Again (as he was when Labelled a 'bottler') be Burning to defend himself and his team-mates and put across THEIR side of the story within the obvious restrictions re' slagging off.

With all that in mind? I half expected something like this to happen re Him, David James or Glen Johnson as they are by FAR the 3 most approachable players in the England squad for the media. I think he put his case across VERY articulately and concisely though. He came across very well in a diplomatic sense to me - A manager in making maybe? He could certainly teach the likes of Gray or Redknapp the younger a few things about how to put your case across SENSIBLY as opposed to hysterically as is sadly the case with most of today's hype-driven media trash that masquerades as football coverage.

Carragher did well today IMO; He actually reminded me a little of some of the rare footage I've seen of Shanks (with maybe a touch of Ronnie Moran) in the way HE controlled the interview, led and set the agenda without his questioners even realising it and how he ONLY revealed what he wanted them to know. Carra's the Old School - In more ways than one. Our New man at the Helm - Roy Hodgson (Iron Fist covered in Velvet Glove maybe?) seems like another - He may look as harmless as Roy Evans did but SOMEthing tells me he's a WHOLE lot tougher. It's nice to know there's STILL a few of the 'Old School' STILL around and the fact that WE have a few of them? Might just benefit our Club in the long-run.............................
